He leaves Sporting and they lose their last two matches after going 100% and then comes to United and we win a game 4-0 (my prediction was one game out) against a team we’ve somewhat struggled to run up a score against in recent years. Sadly I think we’ll lose to Arsenal as they’re clicking into form a bit too early for us to really compete but I do think we can make top 4.
Now let me be clear - that’s not a measuring stick for success for Amorim this season for me as of all the managers we’ve had post SAF, he’s the one I’m most prepared to be patient for but with the inconsistency of a lot of the sides going for top 4 and with in my humble opinion the potential of a lot of the squad I can see us being good enough to make 4th. It would be a nice bonus for a manager who is clearly unlocking the attacking capabilities our side has.
The Amorim effect and top 4

So city are title contenders and aren't even in the top 4? If we are in contention for top 4, then we are title challengers as well..

F'real, if they're still on for a treble then so are we.

5th place likely gets top 4 this season anyway doesn't it? And looks like we'll win the Europa League this season as well.

Actually you're wrong. Top 4 gets you 5th place this season. This is why Man City are actively trying to avoid it.

To be honest we should have scored 12 in ten hag first game against Everton at home and 5 or 6 in the next. Today we barely created anything but still scored 4 lol. ten hag must be thinking were they deliberately missing last 2 years? Sporting probably would have gone the whole season unbeaten and winning every league game with Amorim imo.

For ten hag to get sacked we had to have the worst big chance conversion rate in history of football.😂

Forget top 4, I don’t think we’re ready to compete for that this season.
Route to CL should be through the Europa, which I think is winnable.

Ironically if we do win the Europa League, it means 5th place would get top 4. Which is good for us because it means that the likes of Spurs will have CL distraction next season

United won't finish in the top 4 this season. The sooner fans accept this the better.
Arsenal a draw would be great but as OP said they are flying and United as just about on the runway. Win lose or draw lets not look too much into the mid week result.

Wow, what happened to the Amorim needs time and let's not over-react to results early on?
I have always felt this about the squad regardless of who is in charge - it is not as bad as it looked under ETH, and it was hard to gauge how good it could be. Top 4 is a possibility, because the individual talent in the squad can compete with the likes of Chelsea, Spurs, Villa etc, but with Amorim settling in and trying out things, it's more likely that we will be too inconsistent to get top 4, but you just can't completely rule it out because everyone is pretty much beating everyone for that 4th place.
But there is still a significant gap between 4th place, and really challenging for the title, which we are nowhere near to be honest - any type of non-losing result at Arsenal wouldn't change my mind on that in the mid to long term.
But it's nice to score goals, even when we haven't played well, and the general optimism is better than what we have felt in recent months.
What I like is that Amorim knows 'it wasn't a 4-0 winning performance' and there is lots to work and improve on.
The media will overhype everything as always, but I think most fans know not to get too carried away

Let's just say whoever loses on Wednesday, United or Arsenal, is out of the title race.

Top four this season will surely be Liverpool, Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Just not sure of the order.
