City v Forest - Match Thread

I thought we played well against Ipswich. According to Birtles going to a back three meant even more doom-mongering than normal, but as soon as we went to a back three I thought the points were ours. Great to get into the back six before the tough Christmas run-in.

Ipswich:

The Good: Just a solid all-round performance.

Bad: Nothing of note.

The Ugly: Lots of fouls by Ipswich which seemed to go unpunished. Not sure if we should have had more penalties...but then again VAR is only there to correct mistakes, not make the referee look bad.

Special Mention(s): What a penalty!!

The Last Time we played City @ (H) L2-0 Gvardiol and Haaland for them.

Sels

Williams Boly Murillo Niakhate Aina

Elanga Danilo MGW CHO

Wood

Proposed Line-up:

Sels

Aina Milenkovic Murillo Williams

Yates Dominguez

Anderson MGW CHO

Wood

The 4 man midfield block formation vs Liverpool is my theory.

Subs: Miguel, Morato, Moreno, Moreira, JWP, Elanga, Silva, Sosa, Awoniyi

Injuries: Danilo & Sangare
Not selected: Boly, Omobamidele, Toffolo

League Form:
City - the last six:

W2-1 @ Wolves
W1-0 vs Southampton
L2-1 @ Bournemouth
L2-1 @ Brighton
L4-0 vs Spurs

L2-0 @ Liverpool

Hopefully Pep doesn't figure out how to win without Rodri on Wednesday. They have one draw out of their last seven games in all competitions.

Prediction:

Is it the loss of one player, or is the impending doom of a massive points deduction? Whatever it is, Pep can't stop scratching himself and City's season lurches from bad to worse.

They still have quality throughout the side and Doku could be back...the one who ran us ragged when we lost to Rennes 5-0 all those years ago!

Keep it tight, frustrate them and try to nick it with our late subs.

2-1 to Forest

Final Words:

We'll never have a better chance to beat City.

Nuno has picked an attacking team. I think Elanga starts on the left to get at Walker who has lost his pace.
De Bruyne is a risky pick for them I think. Can’t see him lasting 90 minutes.

1-1, with City holding on at the end.

That’s the optimism killed off early then

That is the difference, Wood clean through, misses, De Bruyne doesn’t miss, game over ??

We are poor out of possession but good when we have the ball.
Reminiscent of the Newcastle game, we are getting outnumbered in midfield.
Miss by Woody could be the crucial moment.

If we can score early in second half, we will be back in it.

Still in sixth place as things stand

Elanga having an effective game, if only there was some end product.
Agree, next goal is crucial, if they get it early, the could run riot, if we get it, they might start to doubt themselves a bit.
We’ve found ourselves in some good positions, just not taken advantage of them.
Still can’t believe Wood missed.

Definitely game over, 3-0

That’s it then. We had started the half well, but it’s damage limitation now.

3-0 probably slightly flattered City, but the difference is taking the chances that come your way, unfortunately we didn’t take ours. It had to be tonight that KDB got back to form.
We still have a long way to go to bridge the gap to the next step, but I still think we are heading in the right direction.
7th in the table isn’t too shoddy for this point of the season.
