To keep it short... by loaning Slonina to League 1 side, club have essentially conceded defeat in him being the white hope.
Club putting all their eggs into the Penders basket, who I'm sure they are prepping to eventually be the one to take over from Rob, turning out to be "another Courtois" (Both 6'7 & bought directly from Genk). That's the only logical way I see it.
Rob is a placeholder for the position at the moment and to be fair saved us quite abit in crucial moments with match-winning saves this season, which gets overlooked of course (positves outweighs the negatives). Hes done well enough on the whole thus far.
Where that leaves Jorgensen & Petrovic, I don't know.

Sanchez is pretty good at most things other than the reason we brought him for which is playing out from the back. Always a mistake in him.
Petrovic has no future here. Good shot stopper but zero command of the box and with our midget squad that’s a crucial quality that’s needed.
Jorgensen should probably be given a run of games. Surely we didn’t pay £20m+ plus for a back GK.

Penders has only made 2 appearances for Genk. He’ll probably go out on loan for a couple of seasons. Hopefully he doesn’t disappear like the American GK we brought.
I think we’ll stick with Sanchez and Jorgensen for at least the next couple of seasons.

Sanchez' mistakes are vastly blown out of proportion. These things happen from time to time when the goalkeeper is tasked with playing out.
Sometimes not even fully calpable...for example one that springs to my mind is the tough match earlier in the season against Bornemouth. The penalty incident, Fofana could have done better, had a big part to play in the penalty mess but Sanchez still got the brunt of the blame and Fofana absolved of fault (I'd argue he was fully at fault).
Sanchez went on to save the pen and made huge important saves which ultimately enabled us to win the match, but that got glossed over, and people focused on the error.
Once you've got that "error prone" tag it sticks (unfairly), that's the problem.
Just seen as recently as Sunday's match with the supposedly great Villa 'keeper Martinez for reference, making a mistake (and thats not the first time ive seen that from him and wont be the last).
Sanchez didn't. Didn't hear a peep.

Penders only making 2 appearances is all politics, nothing to do with player quality.
Genk permanently dropped Penders during transfer negotiations, from their perspective they have no incentive to develop a player on his wayout.

Club should consider recalling Penders in January (if possible) and sending him to a higher level.
He's currently playing with Genks reserves.

Or even just having Penders around the Chelsea squad for the remainder of the season, playing reserves at Chelsea might be better for the immediate future and going forward.

Sanchez hardly saw the ball all game

Nah his mistakes are way too frequent. It's why Enzo has had to back his man time after time this season.
Earlier on in the season he was passing the ball to the opposition nearly every game. In our 4-2 win against Brighton he pretty much handed them 2 goals. Recently against ManU he stupidly gave away a pen when Hojlund was running away from goal. Against Arsenal he was beaten at his near post from a tight angle.
Fofana's just as bad. Always a mistake in him.

Why? I thought development wasn't linear

You have to think of the context & reputation Slonina had signing for Chelsea in 2022...
This was record goalkeeper signing at the time, youngest ever goalkeeper to start MLS matches and was branded as the "next big thing".
Yes, he's still very young but to not secure a loan to a top 5 league two years later (or even Championship at least in that time) and then see the club go onto invest 20m on Penders who is of a similar age, the writing is on the wall.
Club are banking on the latter to be the one.
