We have been doing well away and Wimbledon have been poor at home, form which suggests that we must have a fair chance of at least avoiding defeat. After achieving a “first" at Fleetwood perhaps we can break the pattern of poor results at Wimbledon too.
It could be the pressure of expecting a win at home which adversely affects the players and it is not all that unusual with successful teams. From memory I think Sunderland had a very poor home record in the season they got promoted from League 1 and obviously made up for it away. Of course when supporting your team away from home, poor performances are met with silence rather than any kind of barracking. The biggest cheers at the Sutton game were for Ironside who scored the equalising penalty as he came to the Rovers fans behind the goal at the other end. TLT also shared the appreciation, but the rest stood sheepishly at a distance.
I hope that GM will choose a competitive team and they’ll perform with confidence and perhaps secure all the points. Lose, and Uncle Bulgaria and Co will go above us.
1-2 (Gibson/Anderson/Ironside/Sharp)
