Luton Town v Derby County - Match Thread

LUTON TOWN v DERBY COUNTY Championship #22

Friday 20th December 2024, 2000 Kenilworth Road, Luton

Friday night, under the lights, at a little cosy ground in someone's back garden, here is your regular match thread.

Well, what a difference a goal or four make.......to see the confidence surging back after going up by 3 goals within 29 minutes and totally bossing a team which bossed League 1 last year. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and a long time coming.

Still, we have to now put it together to a team that was not bossing the premier league but showed everyone that anything is possible and promotion is there for anyone.

One downer is the fact that our most consistent player with the most MotM awards this year suddenly sat down in front of me last Friday holding his hammy. Eiran Cashin will be a big miss - but time for Sonny/Nat to step up.

Talking of Friday, Ben Osborn was excellent, I know others were but to me Ben and the indomitable, unflappable, reliable, understated consummate professional what is Craig Forsyth continues to confound the advance of time with his 360th appearance for the Rams.

Friday, can we continue? Hopefully. Because if there is an embarrassment, the sharpy things from the cutlery drawer will be out - again.

We can talk about how far it bleeding is from Shropshire to Luton and having to get around Birmingham at rush hour the Friday before Christmas.

You will be in our thoughts and prayers Vidal.

I gather Scouse has bottled this one. Whether this makes him a half-fan or not is for others to judge.

It does, though.

A tough game on Friday night. I expect a physical battle...but we need to get something out of the game. Luton 0 Derby 0

Glad I never had any plans to go as I'm still recovering from whatever miserable virus I've had.

Think I must be getting past my best. 🤔

I understand that the virus has expressed similar sentiments.

What's this virus floating its merry way round UK? Over here there's something unpalatable they are calling stomach flu. Is it the same thing?

Anyway best of luck to those travelling to Luton, esp if it means skirting Brum - not the easiest thing at the best of times.

It’s a nasty virus. It preys on the weak and morally bankrupt, opening the sluices at both ends. If you are pure of mind and heart it tends to leave you alone.

Well in that case I can think of a busload of likely candidates.

PS for the sluicing effect.
