Our fanbase on JA606 are hilarious

Almost to a man pre kick off they said it was going to be a trouncing with so many players missing up against a near well rested full strength Liverpool. When the inevitable happened, they then go into a complete meltdown about Ange and the defence. They offer zero solutions to how the manager is supposed to conjure up a watertight defence against the best team currently in the league with nearly the whole of the best defence and goalie missing, with only Porro, who has arguably been Spurs worse defender all season available.

What do they expect the manager to do? Where are the options with Vicario, Romero, Micky, Uodogie, Davies, Bentancur, Richarlison, Odobert, Micky Moore etc all missing. Are Spurs supposed to have a squad of 50 to cover for all these missing players?

No wonder Ange gets fed up with supporters and media asking the same nonsense time after time about how can he fix the defence. He hasn`t got anymore defenders to fix it with. What part of that do our supporters not get. Are you saying they should have just sat back yesterday and lost 4-0 as opposed to 6-3?

Anyone with an ounce of a brain can see that the injuries are severely derailing the season thus far. And with many of the defenders and goalie probably not going to be seen at least until February it will probably get worse before it gets better.

Changing the owners, manager will not make one bit of difference. Bringing Pep in wouldn`t make any difference if he only has the same players at his disposal as Ange has.

I was pleased to see the fans in the stadium stayed until the end yesterday, still singing their songs and backing Ange right until the final whistle. I think the social media fans are the problem, not those that actually go to games.

It will be a rollercoaster few months, but Ange will eventually get there. The kneejerk fans will all then quickly vanish. You know the ones that wanted Nuno out, Mourinho out, Conte out. And now they want Ange out. Hopefully Levy doesn`t buckle to them, and finally sees the bigger picture. Giving managers just 1 year, 15 months or 18 months is a total nonsense. Any manager needs a minimum of three years. Fergie would have been sacked in the modern era. Probably Billy Nicholson as well.

I am still 100 per cent Ange in. I see the bigger picture, instead of the short termism of many modern fans.

Hi Sandy,

We haven't always seen eye to eye, but I couldn't agree with you more, the support here is pathetic. If it was down to them we would change managers every 18 months.

The level of debate has gone down so much over the last few years I rarely look on here any more. Fortunately the fans inside the ground can see what Ange is doing. If you want balanced nuanced chat about spurs head over to r/coys on Reddit. Ali Gold's Youtube channel is also worth a look.

i know liverpool could take the foot off the gas yesterday but we could have also given up

theres no way being more defensive guarantees us being more solid either

When is the last time we had a team at Spurs that could sit back defend and be solid? It's fantasy land stuff. We have never had the players for that and we don't now.

Errr

I would definitely say Poch team with Alderweireld and Vertonghen was a "solid" defence!

To be fair he had a very settled back four and goalie. I don't remember to much disruption or injury at the back, during that era.

Thanks mate.

I try to be reasonably balanced with my views. And there was a time when I thought Ange may not work. But he has absolutely grown on me. And would be ridiculous to sack him, given all the problems he has to contend with.

Needs a minimum of three seasons with this mainly young squad. Only then can he be properly judged.

The reality is it will get worse should we lose against Forrest. Especially if it’s a gutless performance too.

The problem Ange has is what he believes in is not working for him consistently for the first time in his career and the spotlight is on him too. Yes you have to take the injuries into consideration too but we were defensively shocking when we are full strength too but yeah having them all back will help for sure.I do wonder is it a case of him being stubborn and sticking to his way or he really doesn’t have any other, skill, know how at all to help him in this situation.

There were some positives tbf, Gray looks promising, Spence and you kept going, Kulus in the form of his life hes been so consistent for yas. Doms finding the net not too. You keep playing no matter what too and are a big threat.

Udogie rb spence lb gray and vdv cb could strengthen you going forward. Could be your best defensive back 4?

Neville made a good point though, no team can press full 90 u have to choose when and some of the pressing was pointless and left your defence with no choice but to come out and be exposed time and time again cause Son went on a weird useless press.

Ange tactics are risky like that but theres room for improvement, that he has to take responsibility for. Can't just say its how we play i ain't changing, don't change just do it better.

They were very good defenders and better than what we have now, but I pretty sure we didn't just sit back and soak up constant pressure in order to win (or not lose) a game.

while I agree that changing managers every 18th months isn't a recipe for success but there comes a point where its hard to see how things are improving..... Couple of points....

1) Ange has no track record of success in any of top leagues in Europe.
2) Since the first 10 games of last season, our record has been woeful
3) Injuries are of course part of the game but is anyone surprised that a race horse like VDV keeps doing his hammy when he is always sprinting to cover wide open spaces because of gaps we leave at the back. Do we train the same way as we play.. I would assume yes
4) As time ticks by and results come in, our wins at City and United look to be more about how bad they are rather than how good we are.
5) Can anyone name a player that has improved under Ange's coaching ?.. I cant
7) To those who want Ange to have more windows/ build his own team.... He has signed Vic, Dragusin, VDV, Werner, Madders, Solanke, Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Solanke & Johnson. He also Sanctioned Udogie joining instead of staying in Italy. He made Son Captain and Romero Vice (Indicating it he was happy with them). Its worth noting during Pre season he said he was happy with the squad, having got rid of a lot of players and said we were in a good place in his mind compared to where we were 12 months earlier.

I like Ange but taking credit for Scoring 3 Vs Liverpool (2 when the game was over and they were resting players) doesn't wash with me.

I felt very Sorry for Gray & Grag yesterday, Our tactics gave them no chance against Liverpool.

For me, he needs to stop with the excuses and adjust the way we play. If he doesn't believe in being more pragmatic and showing more in game management then no problem..... Perhaps the Prem is not the place for him.

After 18 Months, we are in the bottom half, the players confidence looks shot. I would honestly be amazed if anyone thinks this team, playing this way is capable of winning 7 0r 8 of the next 10.

I think there are plenty of teams who would wipe the floor with Spurs in any cup competition from here. So i don't see any reason for there to be any optimism going forward.

Spurs have good young players and I suspect that will be our mandate for signings going forward. I would fire Ange now (He simply looks out of his depth). Hire Potter, get the focus back on player improvement and coaching (rather than trying to adapt some [pie in the sky ideology), much like he did at Brighton and go from there.

I don't want to get into an argument re Poch but his early tenure was the best we have had a Spurs for a number of years. A low key manager who makes it about the players, focuses on improvement with some sensible backing seems like a reasonable way forward.
