Sheffield Weds 4 - 2 Derby County

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v DERBY COUNTY Championship #25

Wednesday 1st January 2025, 1500, Hillsborough, Sheffield

I’m nearly match threaded out but even though we lost on Sunday, it was nice to be appreciated by Leeds fans within this strange Entente Cordiale along with the 5*s that mysteriously appeared all of sudden rating my threads. Still, self praise is no praise.

Not an unexpected result on Sunday, curiously tempered by a lack of any expectation and a feeling of relief that it was only 0-1 to the best team that have visited Pride Park this year. We’re going to be alright (but I AM checking out hotels in Camden Town for the BH weekend in May).

Now to Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday with a sell out away end of Derby faithful in the Leppings Road end. I too shall be there with Mrs View attending her first away game. I nominate Ang for GGGGGGGGOOOOOLetc duty -again.

Cash still out and will be for a bit but Nat Phillips seems to have stepped. Ozoh still a no no but Luke Tommo may, just may make the bench.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all the DCFCJA606 posters - it’s been a funny old year - hope everything goes good for you, your loved ones, your families and the Faithful - let’s hope we get a late present on New Year’s Day

Can't say I'm looking forward to my trip to Ashton Gate after that though.

It's our first chance this season to beat a team twice

Why oh why do all the wonder goals have to be scored against us?! Bannan at home, Leeds team goal at home and Windass today.

First 15 minutes we looked jaded and Kenzo in particular was off it. Too many missed-placed passes in the first half and too many missed chances, Wilson in particular. Bradley too slow for the first goal but we should have gone in level at half time.

It would be hard for me to slate the team or PW today as not much went in our favour and the team had to be refreshed in view of all the Xmas games. This was a cruel result in many ways. Windass' goal (and all credit to him) was a worldie but how often do you see efforts like that go in? Their third came from too much pressing to get back in the game and there was a lucky rebound for the fourth.

There were some plus elements for us and their goalie was forced into some very good saves but this game really underlined our deficiencies - still too many chances going begging and too many misplaced passes and too many injuries to cope with.

Good things? Wilson, in spite of his misses, Ebou, JWZ and Brown who showed that he is worth more game time.

PS I noticed that Heb was doing a spot of advertising round the ground. We need to know more.

An odd game really because we had plenty of chances but the usual defensive solidity was absent. The second goal knocked the stuffing out of us. Our lack of midfield options because of injuries took its toll and we know we are lacking forward power though I also thought Daj was decent.

As disappointing as the result was - we didnt deserve to lose again.... see the stats. Cheers. Terry. UTR.
