Before any potential moves are made in the transfer market, I’d quite like to see some ambition and willingness to show some experimentation in the front 3.
Havertz scored in both games against Brentford last season so has to start. Jesus’ obvious recent form and creativity for me earns him the left spot over Martinelli and Trossard.
The big call is who fills in for Saka. Highly unlikely, but I’d go for Nwaneri. Not just for the excitement / novelty factor. When he plays, he’s often the most dangerous looking option. There’s a dimension to his play that no one else really has. He’s also got the range on his left foot from the edge of the area that we so often see Saka exploit.
He’s fit, fresh and had numerous cameos from the bench. Given the current situation, is now the time to give him 60 - 70 minutes and see what he can do? Arteta’s shown in MLS that he’s willing to put faith in these guys.
In midfield, Merino’s threat in and around the area could prove extremely useful against a resolute and organised Brentford at home.
My team for this evening:
Raya
Timber - Saliba - Gabriel - Calafiori
Rice
Odegaard - Merino
Nwaneri - Havertz - Jesus
Team for tonight

Under Arteta, the wide player has to track back continuously when out of position.
Doubt he trust Nwaneri with that.

Fair enough, however I reckon tracking back is definitely within his locker.
Certainly when compared to some of the efforts demonstrated by Sterling when filling in on the flank.

Think it will be a similar team to what started v Ipswich.
Or we will see havertz as the striker and jesus occupying the saka position

Over to him now! I’ll be keeping a close eye on his tracking back.
Hope he puts in a decent shift.
