The injury to Bukayo Saka has slammed the breaks on his impressive output at the start of the season (9 goals 13 assists in all comps).
It has opened the race for our top goals/assists, so who will win?
Kai Havertz has 7 PL goals, 12 in all comps. He only has 2 assists (both PL). You would expect him to score over 15 league goals, although his role in the team is ever-changing.
Gabriel Jesus has hit a purple patch. 3 PL goals and 4 in the ELF Cup has him on 7 with an assist in both the EFL and CL.
Another goal yesterday means Gabriel Martinelli has 6 goals and 2 assists.
Top League Scorers:
Havertz - 7
Saka - 5
Martinelli - 5
Jesus - 3
Gabriel - 3
Trossard - 3
Saliba, Partey, Merino - 2 each
Nwaneri, Rice, Odegaard, Timber, Calafiori - 1 each
Top PL assists
Saka - 10
Rice - 3
Odegaard - 2
Trossard - 2
Partey - 2
Martinelli - 2
Havertz - 2
Timber, Sterling, White, Gabriel, Calafiori - 1
So who will be our top scorer? A new signing maybe...

Yeah he's been well off. I'm sure his patch will come though, just needs to keep at it. Should've scored at least 1 Vs Everton for example

I'm not sure whether he will rise to it but I'd say Martinelli needs to be the guy now that needs to deliver goals and assists now. A couple of years ago, it felt like him and Saka were fairly level and there were some people who felt he had the higher ceiling. Since then, he's regressed a bit with Saka improving.
Time for him to step out of Saka's shadow and deliver the quantity of goals that we hoped he'd build on 2 seasons ago.

Trossard needs to get firing again, he had 17 goals and 2 assists last season

It feels as though the goals are going to be shared out by quite a range of players.
Saka being out brings opportunities and chances for others. Let’s just hope those chances are taken.
Players will have purple patches at different times and it’s up to Arteta to navigate the best use of his squad to get the most out of those patches.
Jesus is obviously in one now, Odegaard is obviously not but can play himself into one. Confidence is key, hopefully Martinelli lashing that shot into the goal against Brentford will be the start of more composed finishing which in turn will bring more goals.
The players are there, and with a potential addition or 2, we can ride out the loss of Saka.
