His record is extremely impressive!
There’s a danger sometimes to look at boxers from the past through rose tinted glasses – but in all fairness he does seem to be one of the best ever.

Definitely one of the very best! Shouldnt be judged by his later bouts which he fought when he was already past it, broke and well into his 40s.
His achievements, like those of other old timers are even more remarkable when you consider the gruelling schedules of boxers in those days. They would maybe fight one major bout only to follow it with another the very next month month!
Perhaps the first of the "fluid rhythmic floaters" and probably the choice of most boxing champions for best Pound x Pound ever!
Also had a sense of integrity and refused to perform at events where coloured people were not allowed in.

Im sure I heard Jake LaMotta say he fought him so often he got diabetes
