Sorry for the none Leeds United topic, however I was reading an English paper yesterday, a red top, and was outraged at the article by Ian Wright.. his two page spread was all about England and their chances in the Euro 2012, AND the world cup in 2014… he said, “"""England have absolutely no chance of winning either, and the English should right them off now""""…
One of his sentences said “"""I don’t care if we have a fit Rooney, or a fit squad, or if Capello gets the tactics right… we are simply not good enough""""
I was outraged at this… how can he right off a tournament next year that you have qualified as top of the group, then right off a tournament in 3 years time where the qualifiers haven’t even started yet?? – realistically, for England to win either tournament will be difficult, as there are many other countries involved, plus Spain will be the huge favourites I know, but does anybody else think Ian Wright’s article in the paper is frustratingly negative???
I found it disgraceful if I’m honest, my blood boiled as I read it - in international tournaments I support Italy obviously but England are my 2nd team for sure. Why would the English papers slam the national team so much? – They all seem to take joy in belittling England !! - shouldn’t they be bias towards England rather than against them?? – personally I think England have as much chance as Italy, Portugal etc, but the winners will have to beat Spain.
The general opinion in Italy is that England are a good team, some great young players etc, and a good manager – it’s the English press that is the hardest obstacle to overcome?? – I am outraged for an Englishman I must say, if England were to get into a final, I’d like for someone to say to every stupid journalist, sorry you can’t come in to the stadium… you didn’t believe then, so you won’t now… f8ck off and go criticize somebody else !!
Sorry for the ranting Any thoughts?
England Euro 2012 winners???

What we don't need is namby pamby footballers like Rooney. Let's face it to get sent off for a petulant tap at a player because you are dimwitted isn't the type we need in a battle.
If you're going to take someone out do it like Norman would have done it, take the ball, the player and the first three rows of the main stand out!
Rooney you're a soft article!
Reaney, Charlton, Hunter, Cooper across the back would have Messi and his like into row z
Bless.

I think England's biggest problem is what's being posted on here.
We, as fans, are constantly comparing them to other teams.
Instead of trying to copy other teams' styles, why not just stick to what we know? It may not be pretty but if it works...

All Ian Wright is doing is stating the bleeding obvious.
When you have the likes of Brooking wanting McLaren back as England manager after he won the Dutch league, then you know the whole English set up is doomed!
It needs a shake up from top to bottom otherwise its just going to be more of the same.

Aah Trevor 'I sit on a fence me' Brooking...
The man who once said, when comparing two incidents live on television, "Yes it's exactly similar!"

1 - 0 vs Sweden, 1 - 0 vs Spain, trying different teams / tactics...
first time since 1994 England have been a full calander year without losing...
only bad games / defeats in last 3 years came in the world cup, where Italy / France etc had a worse tournement than England.... plus English players such as Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney were really poor, Gerrard past his best, England simply didn't have the young gus available as they do now....
England are a team to fear... the rest of Europe knows it, it's only you English who don't, and the horrible English press.....
