Time to take a few risks?

Next up is the Saints at home.

Ruben has already hinted at changes, saying the players are shattered, and that is no doubt true.

I think it is time for a few risks and to see a more attack minded version of the 3-4-3 type formation. The line up that has been so good against Liverpool and Arsenal is overkill for Saints at home, though I would not look for wholesale changes.

Onana
Antony, Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez, Malacia
Ugarte, Mainoo
Amad, Zirkzee, Nacho

More attacking threat from the full backs and a rest for some key players. No doubt people will have their own opinions, so let loose.

Getting rid of Casemiro and Eriksen and bringing in at least one midfielder should be done sharpish. They’ve barely player under Famorim and are taking up a squad place.

What would also help is winning a game comfortably and then we can rotate within games. So often we're having to play at intensity for the whole 90mins because we don't manage to kill games off even those that we win.

I do think we should rotate though but only 2/3 players at a time.

Really difficult to do with two games a week, every week without injuring and burning players out though.

If we end up progressing in the FA Cup and Europa, both of which you’d expect, Amorim is going to need to be really careful with the first team.

He promoted Jack Moorhouse, Tyler Fredricson, Godwill Kukonki and Elyh Harrison to the first team squad last week, for experience, obviously, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s also to bolster numbers as we move back to split training sessions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I mean is that players, in rotation, get a rest every 3/4 games that way. Also, if we did kill off matches sooner we could rotate that way too and also when you're leading well it can be used as a kind of training session. I'm sure there will be metrics they use in terms of load on the players.

I’d like to see less rotation. Stick with your best XI, and rotate when there’s injuries.
I think the only rotation we need to be seeing at the moment is Yoro with the defence, and Amad/Garnacho.

Onana
De Ligt Maguire Martinez
Mazraoui Ugarte Mainoo Antony
Bruno
Hojlund

I have to say, I would prefer less rotation - I get not wanting to burnout the players, but some can take more games than others. Will be interesting to see if Malacia comes in on the left or Antony. Wouldn't shock me if he started with Cas and rested Ugarte. Yoro might start also.

That’s a great way to end up with soft tissue injuries throughout the squad and six to eight players out for weeks by April.

You just can’t do it playing two games a week, every week. It’s impossible. If we were out of Europe, it might be, but it isn’t.

Amorim should consider bringing Rashford in against Southampton.

Even if he's on the bench. He's still worth having if we're looking to rest players. And against Southampton he has an opportunity to put himself in 5he shop window with a decent performance.

The fact you’re icing out players like Rashford is one of the reasons I think you’re turning a corner tbh. I wouldn’t have him anywhere near the team if I were Amorim.

Yeah we’re desperate for goals so hopefully he’ll be on the bench.

I'd start Zirkzee. He had a few decent moments when he came on against Arsenal and hopefully that penalty will be just the tonic he needed. I think I'd start Garnacho as well.

I wouldn't be averse to resting Mazraoui, but as we're already forced into a change on the other side, I don't know if it's wise to rest both wing-backs.
