Rooney- Why are we so suprised ?

FIFA and UEFA are a joke. England can't complain because then we get called arrogant. But seriously how long will it take them to introduce goal line technology?! In 2011 there is no reason for getting decisions wrong at the top level. Look at rugby, cricket and tennis. I know the other side is that these decisions even themselves out in time but I'd rather beat a team because we were the better side than because of poor officials.

On talksport this morning they were discussing whether to take Rooney or not. I think we should because we're not THAT bad that we can't even get out the group stages without him. Plus it's not like taking an injured player with us.

I'm not suprised he got a 3 match ban, because lashing out at an oponent deserves a free match ban (at minimum!). Nothing to do with descriminating against England.

Probably should have been a longer ban tbh.

I am a little surprised that the ban was for three and not two as worse things go on. I was not surprised that Rooney got sent off for a childish red mist incident. I can't have it that his head wasn't right,if that's been offered up I don't know having not read a line about the mug.
I like him as a footballer, don't get me wrong and he will be massively missed, I even admire him for getting his barnet sorted but he is always likely to get a card as a goal.
As for Mon's comment that we are surely not bad enough that we can't get out of the group- well, that deserves a separate thread. I think we are a little less than mediocre to be honest personally and haven't moved on a fraction under the dull Italian,

This is going to be a mash of different issues but...

The expectations for England is always over the top. Realistically looking at other nations in the tournament there are other nations better than us. Spain, Germany and Holland but other nations that'll give us a run for our money such as France, Italy, Sweden and Portugal. Therefore if we got to the semi finals it would be a success? But that's just Europe, there's also Brazil and Argentina but we still expected to win the World Cup?
