New Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren will have the financial backing of Chairman Nigel Doughty as he looks to make his mark on The City Ground squad.
That's the assertion of Chief Executive Mark Arthur, who earlier today confirmed former England manager McClaren as successor to Billy Davies.
McClaren will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Thursday and Mr Arthur believes his appointment heralds a bright new dawn for the club.
And he has revealed that the new man at the top will have the whole-hearted backing of Mr Doughty, just as his predecessor had.
"Money has been available in the past," he told us. "Nigel Doughty has put in £25million into the club in the last two seasons, so I think it's a bit of a fallacy to suggest that no money has been made available.
"Steve will have similar funds available to him if he can identify a player of the quality who will enhance the quality of the current squad.
"We have a very good squad but he will be looking to improve it in certain positions.
"I think we all know that the first position we must try and sort out is left back."
£25million in 2 years? seems a bit excessive
McClaren will be backed

£25 million into the club represents total spend (overheads, wages, maintainance etc), not solely transfer money.

it looks promising that they've mentioned the left back problem and that they're giving financial backing in the same interview. Sounds like they're interested bringing players in, but its easy for them to say it, all they have to do is do it now

So £25million plus any revenue we make was spent?

What a waste of money!

£25m, no wonder you sacked the bottler.
and he still wanted 'Stellar' signings

Nah BD didn't want "stellar" signings - he just wanted a Stella...

Buckfast more like.
One thing is for sure. Your BD saga is not over yet. He will fleece you for at least £1/2m. Then slag you all off.
I'm surprised he hasn't already done it.
It will be interesting to hear what he thinks about the £25m he had. It's going to be funny, I hope it's videod.
