Szczesny v De Gea

Szczesny is without doubt the best up an coming goalie, and will overtake Casillas as the best and most well known keeper in a few years.

De Gea on the other hand is very overrated and is no way worth the 18million quit Utd paid for him.

Any Tom, Richard and Harry can shot-stop but what sets goal keepers apart is their ability to command their area and how reliable they are. Both which come natural to Szczesny but De Gea fails at miserably.

Yes, de Gea is so inferior to Szczesny that you felt compelled to write an article informing us of that.

I await your next article comparng Szczesny and Paddy Kenny

Can't say I agree with this article. De Gea looked very good today after a shaky start to his Premier League career. I think he has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

de gea was worth has won united a point in each of our last two away games and has barely put a foot,or hand, wrong since the error at west brom. szczesny's 'limp wrists' on the other hand cost arsenal a point in their last league outing. case emphatically for my money.

Chesney is better, at picking ball out of net.

In fact I'd say there are none better.

Just as i expected, all the plastics come out with 8-2 as a justification for their opinions

I can't imagine many Mancs actually knowing what Szczesny is actually like so rate De Gea higher by default.

De Gea is a tremendous shot stopper no doubt about it. Its that old chestnut of ''can he catch a cross if he's being bombarded by Stoke/Blackburn players''. I still think De Gea is shakey on crosses/corners but remember he is still new the PL so will only get better.

IMHO Szcznesy is more complete as a GK, very strong, very confident on crosses (unlike the rest of the team). Good shot stopper as well. He's severely underrated due to the shocking defence sitting in front of him

That is a very sane comment from Psycho-Gooner. If you are a psycho gooner, I have no idea whats up with your fellow supporters in this site.

On the topic. De Gea's mistakes and apparent vulnerability is down to not settling in PL. those are certainly not because of the flaws in his game. This constant reports about De Gea's weaknesses are just poor and lazy journalism.

At first its like "SAF bought De Gea because of his good distribution but he is not a good shot stopper". After a few great reflex saves its "De Gea is good at reflex saves but weak against long shots". After 3 or 4 games of opposition shooting on sight its "De Gea is a good shot stopper but weak at handling crosses". I think this will go on on till the end of the season by that time they will realize De Gea is good keeper and mistake he made is down to not setling in.

As for weakness against crosses, Ability to handle crosses is one of the key attributes when goalkeeping in PL. Im sure SAF didnt overlook that factor when he signed him. When he settle in and develop the understanding with the defenders in front of him, he will deal with the crosses more comfortably.

Also a lot of young top talents are hampered by the pressure brought on by their massive price tags. If De Gea was a £6m-odd signing he'd be praised to the high heavens. Young goal keepers need time. Even Fabianski produced a great run of form when given time.

So there's no point trying to wind up United fans over De Gea because he will get better no doubt about it

De Gea is statistically the best goalkeeper in the league so it makes me laugh people think he is an almunia.

Now people are saying he is overated like the op says when the media and opposition fans think he is saving us but at the same time after saying he is rubbish. Chelsea fans, Liverpool fans etc won't be seeing him as rubbish after some of those saves he pulled off.
