Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers - Preview

1. I think the commentators were good tonight. You always knew where the ball was; you can't have Alan Green (even if you like him) on Rovers Player finances; the summariser who sounded like Gordon Taylor was quite interesting and he and Tom probably do it for practically nothing, They are miles better than Paul Mayfield and the early Chris Mortley.
2. The performance could have been a lot worse. 30 seconds was the difference between OK and the opposite. It was better than Friday and remember we were fortunate to win at Peterborough. Blackpool won it on in the last half hour rather than us handing the victory to them on a plate.
3. Compared to our immediate struggling rivals 7 points out of the last 15 is encouraging. We are ahead of them all in the form table.

Donaldo, you've justified my hovering optimism and on that note I'm off to bed before something changes

Donaldo, excellent comments. However we still need to score more goals, you can't close down a game with one goal,& we shouldn't be reliant on one player to do that.I see from the match report that Chris Kirkland is injured after one match!Another fine acquisition?

well after a short walk to the ground from my home (yes i live in blackpool) i was a bit twitchy about the game but i can tell you this we made a very good account of ourselves last night just to let you all know gilks got man of the match for pool that should speak volumes,he kept blackpool in the game with saves from barnes (played very well)and sharp(dont think hes quite match fit)bennet always looked dangerous.
chimbO looks quality and combined well with barnes, friend and hirst worked well together and illunga(spelling) looks solid,
gillet too had a good game, oster gave the ball away to cheeply at times and cant tackle to save his life, stock played well in patches was his fault for the winner holding on to the ball too long and getting mugged on the edge of the box his head in his hands said it all,
sully was quality got a touch on the winner which tuck a deflection on the way in,he would have save it other wise.
got to work today and all the pool fans agreed (small consolation i know)we were unlucky and should have won on another day we could have had 4 or 5 but alas wasnt ment to be

Thanks for that norton, always interesting to hear people's opinions who've actually seen the game. Certainly sounds a lot more promising.

By the way, I owe you all and Billy Sharp, an apology. I got from the commentaters last night that Sharp was arguing with Rovers supporters at the end of the game. I am relably informed that those spectators were Blackpool fans who had been abusing Billy. Once again my apologies.

Thats ok so long as they didn't abuse our number 26

You've got an exclusive on that Lanzo.

Very sporting of you to apologise. I contradicted in the light of Billy's tweet and also that this abuse of Rovers fans hadn't been mentioned on any other board. Normally he gets jumped on if any supporter feels he's out of line
He was having banter with Blackpool fans on Twitter, seems most of it was in good nature

Thanks Donny lass, I always do apologise when wrong.
Some Blackpool speccies were making abusive remarks to Billy about him missing the sitter which Gilks saved, they were calling him a name which rhymes with banker and I am told he gave back as good as he got.
Whether he should, or whether he should have walked away is another matter.
