Champions league is where you get found out

Forget all the Sky hype about the premier league. In fact most leagues in world football aren't as good as they are made out to be. In reality there are only a few good teams in the premier league, La Liga and other leagues. Comparing leagues is like watching children arguing. It is when you bring those 3 or 4 good teams from each league together in one place, you really get a true test - That is why champions league is and will always be king.

The only definitive proof of a team's true quality is the champions league and so far you have looked very average. Perhaps a chance to do something about that tonight, but there are no hiding places in the champions league - You can't hide behind British patriotism and sky hype and claim that you are a great team just because you are doing well in the very overrated premier league.

The very poor performances of English teams in this seasons champions league should reveal the truth. Yes the premier league is a good league, but it is just one of many good leagues in the world. Can't wait for the real proper football competition tonight after watching a weekend of average teams trying to pretend they are good just because they are doing well in the premier league.

The champions league is a steep learning curve, and it is valuable experience, even if we get knocked out we will hopefully be back next year!

So what? We're 2 games into a 6 game schedule so I'd hardly say we've been 'found out'. The Premier League is what it's all about anyway, the CL just gives FM freaks and fat couch jockeys something to talk about during the week when they're not watching QVC.

Villareal are terrible right now.

I'm not a city fan but I think they've done quite well so far in the tournament.

Bayern have the team to beat all english teams in the competition so they shouldn't be too disheartened by that result. And Napoli are looking better and better all the time, they'd test alot of the usual big teams.

However Villareal are in poor form right now, and don't really have the players anymore to threaten teams like they used to. So if Villareal win, then yeah maybe Man C have been found out.

I highly expect City to win though. Then a draw or win either way in the other game will put them right back in this tournament!

Thats odd because when Liverpool won the champions league in 2005 and reached a further final in 2007 the red half of Salford were out in force to tell everyone that the domestic league was were it was at.

I'm confused

Kind of an obvious article really - did it really need pointing out that a competition that takes the best teams from each European nation will be the biggest test of a team's quality?

But then, to say that City have looked average kind of defeats your own point. Average what? An average Champions League team? An average team in a competition that will, in your own words, "always be king"?

Doesn't sound like something that warrants too much criticism to me. I think I might just be able to live with that. Especially so in our debut season.
