4 years ago, this wouldn't have been debatable. Cech was on top of the world and number 1, however since his unfortunate head injury it's been downhill.
However this season, Szczesny is proving himself to be the best goal keeper in the world. He is a general in the box, reliable, incredible shot stopper, and oozes in confidence - something that Cechs missing and is affecting his overall game.
If Szczesny had the back four of Chelsea in front of him, he would concede less than Cech without doubt.
The list of the best goal keepers (currently) in the world are:
1.) Szczesny
2.) Neur
3.) Cesar
Thoughts?
Szczesny v Cech

Where's Ross Turnball in that top 5? With the OP's logic he'd have to be pushing Cech for a starting place....

Szczesny
Much like Ringo starr - best drummer in the world - he's not even the best drummer in the beatles

Gary Walsh just sneaks in at no.4. Great list OP.

Szczesny has been excellent so far this season, but he has had to be. It is too early to compare him after 6 months to a goalkeeper, who has been at or near the top for a number of years.

I guess he's better than Flappyhandski, but that's not saying all that much. I'd say he's probably 5th/6th in the league, competing with Begovic...

I was always quite a fan of Gomes - I feel a bit sad he's lost it to Friedel! Gomes made some unbelievable saves against us early on, but seemed to have howlers against others. Outrageously overrated in football manager when he first joined!

i rate szczesny but this is being a bit stupid
maybe they can be compared when szczesny has more experience
maybe peak szczesny may be better than peak cech but he isnt now
