This interview from the Sun Newspaper shows exactly the reason why I felt we had to get rid of Carlo.

He was never going to give a chance to any of the younger players and this made the older ones relax and fail to put in the required performances knowing they would always play. At this phase of the teams development (transition), this strategy was never going to work and we would have been left behind by rivals. I thank Carlo for the work he did but he was never the manager to successfully lead a transition especially in Wilkins absence.
Where Carlo Messed Up

Carlo was a coward in terms of team selection. A gentleman but not strong enough to handle the personalities in the dressing room. Funnily enough someone 20 years his junior is doing admirably.

Where did Carlo mess up? Where would you like me to start?
Hopeless team selections, predictable tactics, failure to bench big names if they were under-performing, failure to adjust his tactics for the big games, giving daft comments to the press (I would take Rooney over Messi )
Considering the media crusade against him AVB has coped admirably. We have ourselves a real gem here, let's hope we can hang on to him

I was a supporter of Carlo and would not havebeen to disturbed to see him have another season.....however since AVB's arrival that has changed. I don't think any other manager would have been able to pull off what AVB has done so far.
