This cant go on

No, I'm not happy this morning.

Last weekend Jordan Rhodes scored the perfect hat-trick at Exeter City.
Left foot, right foot and header.

This weekend he could only manage right foot, header, right foot.

This can't go on and I firmly put the blame at one person...

LEE CLARK

This can't go on and this man must leave now. Imagine if we had Iain Dowie, Peter Taylor or even Shteve McClaren in charge, this football club would be seeing perfection week in week out.

No one knows the facts, it is all speculation at the moment. What we do know is the Police chief lied when he said the fans had knocked the gates down when in fact the gates were opened by the Police. We also know the 'pens' at either sides had more than enough capacity to hold the incoming fans but stewards simply let them all pour onto the backs of the already full central pens, resulting in the crash barriers collapsing and the rest, sadly, we know. There was no delayed kick off to temper the anxiety of the fans still trying to get in at 2.45.

If all the papers are released, and I say 'if', we will learn more about the decision makers on that afternoon.

My own opinion from what I've read and watched is that Liverpool fans were given the 'wrong end' to start with, and that the crowd control was non existent...coupled with the ground not having a full safety certificate. The lies put about afterwards were a disgrace.

confusion..leads to errors in reporting..access to and from the ground led to the clubs being given the different ends of the ground..the over riding desire to keep the two sets of supporters apart always led to problems ...the over riding desire of supporters to turn up without tickets will always lead to problems..
the speed at which large crowds can become seriously dangerous , especially in small enclosed spaces is always going to be difficult to police, especially when no one is prepared for large numbers all turning up at about the same time, there are queues at the galpharm turnstiles at ten to 3?????
those who have never faced a large crowd, some of who are aggressive and push forward and large numbers who are scared and panic should never really be allowed to make comments after the fact..
lots of faults, lots of bad reporting on both sides and lots of comments made without considering the other sides views and responsibilities on the day....
remember people at the same event see things totally different given their own location, eyeline, information and vested interests... telling "lies" is quite a subjective thing in this type of situation..

Cheers jonnyh

If Andy had just disagreed with me the spat wouldn't have happened. Don't name call without actually knowing me.

Cas
Tez
Grimois
AR
Kindo

Can all call me whatever they like, as I do know who these people are.

Me and 38years have had the odd spat down the years, but his is still the first report of a game I've not atttended that I try read. Don't agree with all his views, but his match reports are spot on. Don't recall either of us stooping down to name calling though

i either agree or disagree with posters.. if i agree i try to add something more..if i disagree i try and explain why..

if someone is having a daft post i try to add something daft..

if we can get back to decent, reasoned argument and debate along with some silliness, we might get the old 606 back ....

ive always tried with lee clark and the team to be positive as and when i can..the negatives also have to be discussed...if we have no negatives, then we are all lying from lee clark downwards..

we are third division and mistakes are gonna happen but we really do cause ourselves more problems than the other team do..

brentford/exeter and good parts of saturday were town from a couple of seasons ago, aligned with much better defence , apart from the daft lapses... if we have a game where they are put right and the team goes forward like it has and the chances are all taken we could give someone a right hiding(although i do count two 4-0 away wins as bordering on right good hidings)..

tommorow night, the unbeaten run shouldnt even enter our heads, its just a follow on from the last 3 games...i will be dissapointed if we dont win...

38 I don't really want to prolong this discussion because its a bit off topic...but the Police reported that the fans had pushed open the gates, and this was passed on to the media who reported it. Afterwards, and it is on record this, they had to admit that in fact this was not true and that the gates had been opened on Police advice. By this time of course the news had already circulated around the world.

This was never a 'subjective' view on events, it was a deliberate mistruth.

As for the liverpool fans turning up in numbers without tickets, this had been proven to be a falsehood with no evidence , again by officials at the stadium...but once again only after the mistruth had been circulated around the world. There was a lot of fear about what had happened and a lot of blame apportioned on the wrong people, like saying Liverpool fans were robbing the victims, and urinating on them...all proven to be false.

We may never know, but hopefully if the reports from the time are published as promised now, albeit 22 years too late, it will provide some closure for the families of those bereaved and injured .

I personaly have been in 2 or 3 frightening crushes at football matches, the first when I was 11 yo at the Town v Wolves cup replay when 46,000 turned up on a pay at the gate night match at Leeds rd, where I was squashed and couldn't breath but thankfully my elder brother lifted me out of the crush behind the cowshed ...so I know how frightening it is..

jacko..
there was room at both ends..but nothing like enough for those in leppings lane just before the kick off..
the cctv estimated the numbers trying to get in..since that time technology has moved on and they can be counted..
3/4 of them could not have had tickets..
the rest about the gates and the poor stewarding would never, ever have been an issue otherwise..

if you have little or no idea what you may be up against(as i said earlier-very poor planning ahead, even after very similar issues at least twice before) its difficult to cope.. someone has to make a decision, which has been forced on them to take too quickly..

blame the police, blame the poor planning, blame the stewards, blame the press but the truth still holds, if you dont cause an issue in the first place, no one will make mistakes...
