Im am still bemused as to how button got form the back of the grid to so close to the front within a few laps.
Im sure he was last at some point, then the next time I saw him he was in 11th, then catching up on webber and schumacher, then past vettel.
Either the bbc didnt pick this up or he was very fortunate with people pitting as he overtook them.
It seems tyre choice is more important than grid position nowdays, and being at the back like button was means you can be brave and throw on any tyre you want, whereas people like vettel and webber at the front have to be soo careful they almost drive out the tyres as they are scared to pit in case they loose time.
saying that it seems ferrari got their strategy all wrong as they moved too quickly and put on inters. They would have been better off just copying what vettel did and try to pass him if they could get close on the drs zone.
we also saw webber steam through the pack in china startin from quite far back.
How can you be at the back then win?

I think the many pitstops, safety cars and changeable conditions made it possible.

Tyre choice - he jumped in and gambled several times ahead if others, some he got wrong some he got right, ultimately it worked for him, so lucky
Safety car - many SCs mean even if last, and the 15 cars ahead of you are much slower, you can dispatch them quickly, but you need to be brave - Jenson found a bit of this, so well done
Conditions - changeable so if you have a lot to lose you don't fight too hard - Jenson drove fast and decisively
In the same position Lewis Alonso MS, Webber definetely and maybe Koba and Vettel Rosberg could have done the same

When Button was last it was lap 40 after the re-start but because of the weather tyre changes needed to be done.
What we don't see is how many drivers he would of overtaken whilst others were in the pits.
As was mentioned the safety car came out which of would of helped.
Tyre changes have always been important but it was magnified because an unusually amount were made in 1 GP.

I think it was the Sebastien Vettel voodoo skid pan I built in my shed that did it. When I heard on the radio that Jenson was catching Sebarstien I bigged up the Fairy liquid and made my little Vettel dinky car whoosh off the tray and into the tomato growbag. Defo.

he didnt......... because according to many he is just boring and doesnt take risks, cant overtake or outperform his car...... in fact we are all in a dreamstate and will awaken very soon and vettel and co will say......crikey ive just had a nightmare ...

Button has always been brave with his tyre choices, thats why he tends to do well in changeable conditions.
its one of his best assets getting those calls right... first.
