Obviously I am blue, but I am also a England fan. Here is a discussion I had with my brother (a red) last night. He said when you see them on the same pitch (Rooney and Silva) it illustrates the problem for England. Our top player (Rooney) would not get in the Spain team.

Where does this leave England

Agree with Cole, I am not sure about Rooney. Where would he play???
Up front...Is he a better finisher than Vila, I don't think so.
Would he get in the hole behind the forward?? not a chance. BTW I am a big Rooney fan.

beggars belief that Capello would play Smalling in front of Micah....bizar

I would put Cole, Terry and Ferdinand into the Spain team and no one else.

Villa is a better finisher than Rooney, although he had a goal drought just like Rooney last year.
I think Villa is a better finisher Rooney is better at other things, in terms of just playing ability I would choose Rooney although Villa has a spectacular scoring record for Spain, so personally I would probably keep Villa there for another year or two and slowly phase Rooney in over him..
Don't think Rooney as the main man upfront for England would work but with Spain and their talented attacking midfielders I think Rooney would fit in perfectly... obviously this is all just theory...
If Richards could play like he did yesterday all the time I think Ramos may find his place under threat, either that or he would be moved inside as Puyol retires...

Young roasted Richards in the first half yesterday.

Maybe it was just in the second half then (the bit seared into my memory) but he was a beast...
Also Ramos at times can be a little suspect defensively...

Young roasted Richards once. After that, he went further and further out of the game, to the point that Richards attacked at will.

Agreed, roasted for the first half is a HUGE exageration: it was barely a 10 minute spell x

Richards if far too inconsistent for me, when he's good he's good and when he's bad he's awful but there's no middle ground.
