Well, Reading are 'only' 15th as we stand on Monday, 24th October 2011, yet the team is seven games unbeaten. That might sound like little progress coming up from our low point of 23rd at the beginning of this run, but we should bear in mind that teams above us are packed in like sardines - just four points more and it'd be Reading sitting nicely in the play-off positions right now!
Also, this nice little run has included not losing to good sides like Southampton, Derby and 'Boro - and a nice battle coming up Saturday against Crystal Palace, who have shot up unexpectedly into third place.
So, taking these comments as a yardstick:
- are we promotion material?
- will the run continue Saturday and beyond?
- we've traditionally risen our game to the big teams; will we continue to find the same energy when we return to playing lower half of table sides again?
- and, if you were pushed on it, where do you see our season finish, looking at it right now?
Food for thought ...

Whisper it quietly but this season imo is almost a carbon copy of what last season was so far, lost one or two big names, sluggish start to the season, performances start to pick up but pick up too many draws, if we can really start to pick up results before Feb then who knows...
Again my appreciation of the job BM is doing continues to grow by the month, Gorkss + Alfie as replacements for Mills + Long was about as good as we could of realistically hoped for, raking in £9m or so for an outlay of £1.2m was fantastic.
Ultimately I'm not sure if we are quite good enough to make the top 6 or so, Cummings + Mills are not good enough for a promotion chasing side imo and think we will concede too many goals, but with the quality of performances I see no reason why can't be in the top half and at least be in the hunt, and again looking at where we were at the start that didn't look likely.
In BM I certainly trust to always maximise our potential
