Was watching my bro playing it last night, frankly can't tell the difference between any of them so not sure what everyone creams their pants about.

Got to agree. Football games just arent fun any more whereas shooting people in games is still as enjoyable as it has always been

Well I enjoy the new defending, feels like a proper challenge. I maintain most of the fun is still in couch multiplayer, mates + beer + FIFA is win.

These software companies know exactly what they're doing. The sequels are always very similar but have enough differences to make you shell out £40+ on them.
EA Sports could easily make a perfect football game. But if they did, they wouldn't make the millions they do on annual FIFA releases.
The software pirates are on both sides!

Its the same with all big multinational companies and tech companies.
You think they hadn't invented/created flat screen tvs years ago? And the different sizes and plasma/LCD/LED?
Its just a way of peaking consumers interest by 'inventing/introducing' new tech onto the market but its just a way of milking consumers for a year or so before then releasing the 'new latest technology' and making us fork out more hard earned cash on it.

As an indieish games programmer who had the pleasure of visiting EA Vancouver, I have to say that actually, there's a massive amount of change. The under the bonnet stuff is ridiculous, art assets + thousands of lines of code + mocap + netcode is all a ridiculous amount of work. Due to the cyclical nature of development, the sequel has to be worked on before the newest game comes out, to ensure it is released on time the following year. Of course, they could perhaps make the 'perfect football game' but that would almost certainly require more staff, and you can expect the cost of your game to go up.

Bunsen: I disagree. They deliberately and cunningly put some good things in, but take others out.

What got taken out of this year's version? I had to break down the cost of game development interestingly, it's a heck of a risk and you'd be surprised how many make nothing (not that FIFA is one of them).
