Mine goes back to 1990. It was the last game of the season v Crystal Palace, the week before they played Utd in the FA cup final. I worked in a bookies and dared to phone in sick (Saturdays were really hard to get off and you had to book months in advance). I was 18 and only decided to go on the spur of a drunken moment the night before. First time travelling to an away game by myself, and being a girlie, was quite apprehensive when I sobered up! :O
Anyway, what a top day! Great atmosphere, loads of blues went dressed as the Blues Brothers, a well wishing flag was brought on for the finalists next week (nice touch) and even though my boss who was also a blue spotted me, I managed to keep my job and got back to Manchester unscathed and sober!
Not much to do with the result....Just my first solo away game. Anyone else?
What was your favourite league away game?

being a brighton fan, mine would be palace too, always take loads up there
apart from thatmy first solo was northampton in 78,amazing with it being a cricket ground and all
my old man took me up to roker park in the late 70's,that was amazing too and the old baseball ground around 1976,derby were a great team in the early 70's under clough and seeing the ram on top of the stand was incredible after watching so many derby games on tv
favourite ever away day (excluding any win at palace) has to be st.jame's park in1979,went up to the old 1st division that day, even newcastle fans were cheering us on as we went up instead of sunderland
stood on the kop just before they put seats in,incredible noise, loudest i've ever heard

Don't go to many 'league' games now, cant stand being treated like fodder, sitting in plastic buckets, paying over the odds for every little thing, and not being able to just go and stand where i like,oh yeah and the games are invariably sanitised as well--so i shall stick happily with a league where i can mix with whom so ever i please, change ends at half time and not cost the Earth.
oh yes and European trips for those that are able--last year a week in Madeira--absolutely top class!!
Find out on Monday where this year's adventure takes us----. . . . . . .
