English delusion

Jack Rodwell has spoken out and claims English players have as good technique as Spanish players. He then goes on to claim Rooney, Ferdinand, Terry, Gerrard and lampard would all start for Barcelona!

Does he think Gerrard and Lampard will replace Xavi and Iniesta? Is English football delusional?

I as a United supporter thinks that maybe only Rooney would get in, and thats because Barcelona are looking at another option for their forward 3. Ferdinand will get in ahead of Pique if fully fit but Terry will never get in ahead of Puyol.

Its because of this that the Englend side gets hyped up and then falls flat on its face.

The Liverpool team of 1987 would have beaten this current Barcelona team

Did that Liverpool team actually win anything that year?

Yes, they won the league.
With players like Barnes, Beardsley, Hansen, Lawrenson, Dalglish, Molby, Nichol, Aldridge etc, they were an outstanding football team, and would have been more than a match for this current Barcelona team.

This Barca team would struggle more in the PL than it does in La Liga. The top 5 or 6 teams in the PL are all better than any team below Real and Barca in La Liga in my opinion. Even with their dominance in possession Barca were beaten by Arsenal this season, and only just drew an organised Chelsea side 2 years ago.

Gotta agree with the Mellor cushioned ooh ya beautyyy chap.

Sunderland being closer to the top than Seville only proves that Barcelona are streets ahead of everyone else and reflects poorly on our top teams. You saw the difference in class in the CL Final didnt you? That was our best team against Spain's best team.

The vast majority of quality midfielders wouldnt get an automatic place in the current Barca side.
Barca's current crop of midfielders have been learning this possesion game for years, and their understanding of the style and, perhaps more importantly, of each other would make it difficult for even the best of outsiders to step straight into the team.
A number of midfielders may have equal or perhaps even better technical abilities than Xavi or Iniesta, but that might not be enough.

Not in 1987.

do you know what peeves me off in our league..

the number of passes which are made without any thought going into them whatsoever. Its just as if we have this attitude of "get rid of the ball at all costs, doesnt matter wheree it goes, as long as its away from me"

Im gna use Ashley Cole as an example but the number of times ive seen him cross the ball, only for it to fail to go past the first man is ridiculous. He clearly puts no thought into where he's gna cross the ball, who is in the box, should i hit the ball different (outside of the foot) He just wants get rid of the ball asap. This applies to many english players.

Van Basten's AC Milan would have beaten them.

Barca would walk the prem with complete ease. Real Madrid would win it without even sweating. Those two teams are miles, hundreds of miles, more superior to every team in the prem.

The prem is a poor shadow of what it was a few years ago.
