Morning all.
I've just finished reading the Jimmy McNulty beeb blog on the furore surrounding Alex McLeish's possible move to Villa (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2011/06/villa_risk_fans_wrath_if_they.html), and remembering the recent events in the Steel City (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/27/danny-wilson-sheffield-united-protests), and it has got me wondering - who would get Town fans up in arms in the same way.
There have been discussions over various players lately on various fora - including whether Lee Bowyer would ever be accepted as a Town player, should the unlikely happen and he drop down to our league. This debate followed similar lines to the Lee Hughes ones of old - off the pitch controversy tainting a potential on the pitch asset's reputation.
So, what if Boots and Cryer got their way and Elsie went?
Would we Town fans get our collective knickers in a knot in the same way?
Would we, for example, create facebook groups (perish the thought) or burn the shirt (the real ones, not the pile of "Believe" shirts at the side of OT) if Larry Grayson got offered the job?
What about any other ex-Leeds people? Or is there anyone eles that would cause you to return your season ticket?
Thought this might be an interesting debate on a slow news day.
Hypothetical thread of the day

I don't think our fans are that bothered who plays for our club or managers it as long as they are good anough , we are not that big or passionate anough to care .

What I should have said there isn't anough of passionate fans that go to games to make a difference who plays for us

Interesting one Grim, but think the only one I really wouldn't like at Town has no connections with any of our so called rivals!
That man is Paul Ince!

I'd take Lee Bowyer in a heart beat - I don't care what he did in the past (blown out of proportions anyway) or who he played for. He'd tear this league a new one so as far as I'm concerned he can play for us any time he wants.
If a player or manager does a decent job and gives 100% they are welcome here as long as they haven't committed any horrible crime (Marlon King or Lee Hughes would not be welcomed for example). Who someone has played for doesn't really concern me.

Trevor Francis can f/o for me, after sending us down and then saying he didn't care, loath him

Interesting story if anyone is interested:

Talks about the success Udinese have whilst having a ridiculously modest wage bill and how they unearth players to sell them on when they outgrow the club. In particular the fact that their annual gate receipts are equivalent to one match at Old Trafford is staggering!

For Udinese read Crewe Alex, well known for thier selling stance, difficult team to be a fan of I guess but that is how some teams operate.
As for not wanted at Town, no one I can think of even Ince, he would have to get the team winning and get us promoted but that applies to ANY manager of the team come August (are you listening Mr Clark, as last chances go, you must be on yours by now)

scott sellars played for town didn't he, don't remember any complaints...was wijnhard ex leeds too...? There are some exceptions I guess, but generally speaking, if players have been ok guys then i'm ok with them playing for Town..
