Quality Players

What a season luke steele is having pulling off save after save .But what i car'nt understand is the way our manager keeps saying what a fantastic keeper he is we already know this. Putting him on a pedestal like that will only attract other clubs to come and take a look at him then what will we do if a big offer comes in for him back to square one. The same applies with butterfield we need these players for at least the rest of the season. This may sound like a bit selfish but i for one want us to do well and keep our talented players so we hopefully can go on to bigger and better things

I can't believe that other teams only scout players on the basis that a manager has praised them, although the newspapers do get in on that game.

Praising players inspires confidence and improvements, it's a 'good' thing to do.

Players come, players go, no one is irreplacable. On current form we need have no concerns of a certain young man being snapped up!

mcooling's comments are reminiscent of a conversation I overheard last night on my way out of Oakwell having seen a cracking match in which the team got a great result against a top half of the table side. This bloke said to his mate "What did he bring Doyley on for? He did nowt." To which his pal replied, "No - and he did nowt match before either." Not - what a great result! Or any praise for any player! This is typical Barnsley. Bloody miserable gets a lot of them.

I could do some of that positivity you heaped on The club while Robins was in charge skinner

My favourite comment was in the Mount last night...

"I'm not paying £30 to that lot..." followed a few minutes later, with...."I'm going to Leeds, though..."

£36!!!....

budred, the problem with players today is loyalty. If a player is truly happy and playing good football, there is nothing to stop them from staying at a club regardless of who comes looking. A lot of them see £££'s and chase after the money and there is nothing a manager or fans can do about it.

At least being positive about your players gives them a sense of worth and makes them feel valued. It's their decision at the end of the day whether they stay or go, not what a manager says about them.
