Undisclosed fees

The bain of a football fans life, whenever I see this I cant help but think that one side is getting mugged. If Nicky is to go I would like to know how much we get for him, out of interest more than anything but it also gives us a clue as what to expect Keef to do with regards to a replacement.

It annoys me too. The only (partial) reason I can see for it is that the selling club doesn't want other clubs to know how much money they have to spend from the sale.

It occurs normally where you have two clubs that wish to keep the actual fee secret. Reasons for doing so include:

1. Where the fee is lower than expected for the selling club (perhaps due to in-house problems with the player, short contract time remaining etc)

2. Where the fee paid is higher than expected, and buying club do not wish to publicise the fee as create resentment or expectation.

3. Where the fee is significantly lower than expected, and the buying club do not wish to show how little they are paying out for players.

4. Where a selling club has a "transfer kitty" and disclosure of fee would tell other selling teams how much they have left.
