What happened to the entertainers?

Is it just me or are United really boring to watch lately?

As much as I don't like the club, they used to entertain me with their attacking play...and I enjoyed watching football played with the emphasis on attacking.

Now I just see negative tactics against the better teams and a reluctance to go for it against the so called weaker teams...last night's game was excruciating to watch, United against a very poor outfit should have imo delivered plenty of attacking football...instead I watched United protect a 1 goal lead against a team that were there for the taking!

I also read that OT was like a 'morgue'...so we have boring football and bored fans!

Is it now time to say goodbye to Fergie? And bring in a fresh approach, and a team that entertains? Or is this mundane, perfunctory United what the fans want?

United set up with 2 up front and 2 wide men and a 2 man CM. That's hardly a negative line up. It didn't turn out as planned, that's all. They were better than expected and pressed which caught players like Anderson, Nani, Bebatov, Valencia out, who didn't work as hard as them lot to create their own spaces.
The crowd were quiet because a goal fest formality was expected, it didn't happen and got frustrated and disappointed. Its a reality check for many fans, some who seem incapable of accepting that sometime you dont get it your own way all of the time.

We now move on to the Benfica game to win the group.

That was exactly right

United played in second gear and they played in 5th gear

Credit them, they gave us no time on the ball

I see why they are difficult to score against.Basel only put 2 past them and Basel have shown they are a good side v us and Benfica and Benfica also only put one past Galati

They were hardly ''there for the taking''. They are actually a well organised hard working unit

I bet Barca would have hammered them.

................

And you would have bet the same last year when they played Rubin Kazan.

You would have lost both times.

"You would have lost both times."

Well not really. One we can be sure of, but not yesterday’s game.

If I was given the choice out of which team would have played, I would have had my money on a Barca hammering as opposed to a United on. On those grounds I'm 50% right already…

Well, yes really. It was a 1-1 draw, and a 2-0 win to Barca.

Neither was a hammering.

Sorry, a misunderstanding. I thought you were suggesting I was wrong suggesting that Barca would have hammered the team we played last night. Which is imposable, as they didn't play the team we played last night, we did.

Barcelona normally struggle in group stages and knockout rounds in terms of not winning many games. Man utd won more games then barcelona last year in champions league but while man utd were beating teams home and away barcelona were edging games with draws the odd loss and a win requried. They probably only hammered 1 team last year.

Big sides do just enough to get through

The Barca that turned up in last seasons final would utterly destroy teams in the league stages

They play in second gear at this stage, like we do

Billy last year everyone was saying how weak Uniteds squad was in comparison to his competitors...

Chelsea even spent £70 odd million in January to make up the gap but no one can match the mighty Ferguson!

If Ferguson has had the strongest squad for years then it is only down to him, for years until recently Liverpool have outspent us then recently Chelsea have outspent us big time and now last few years City as well...

Even though people say money rules football this hasn't stopped Ferguson winning loads up against richer clubs.... because the man is the greatest...
