Stirling Albion launch 'X
Factor' trials for new
players.. but they have to
pay £200 to take part
May 17 2011 By Scott Mullen
A SKINT football club are holding
an X Factor-style trial - to find
players.
Stirling Albion have invited fans
to pay £200 to play in a closed-
doors match on June 4 at the
town's Doubletree Dunblane
Stadium.
Manager Jocky Scott will then
decide if any of the trialists are
worth offering a contract.
The Binos, who were relegated
from the Scottish first division
last month, have only one player
on their books for next season.
Another seven have until the end
of May to decide whether to stay
on.
A notice on the club's website
reads: "With up to six contracts
available, we will be inviting
trialists who pay £200 the
chance to show their skills in
front of our very own Jocky
Scott - our version of The X
Factor."
Director Paul Goodwin said last
night the club have had a
positive response and added:
"For us to make money, we need
to think outside the box to try
and find money and players.
"Players are being asked to send
in CVs and application forms.
Hopefully we will be able to
come up with a strong team for
next season."
In July last year, Albion made
became the first senior football
club in Scotland to be fully
owned by fans.
The Stirling Albion Supporters
Trust did a £300,000 deal to clear
debts and make a one-off
payment to club chairman Peter
McKenzie, who wrote off a
£1.2million loan due to him.
There are 2000 registered trust
members, among them Real
Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo
and Dunblane tennis ace Andy
Murray.

Fan owned? There's an idea.
How many season books sold at Ibrox?
About 40,000?
A thousand quid each = 40 million.
It could be done.

I wonder if they took in everybody that applied.
That's how to make money.
"Aye c'mon son. 200 quid gets ye a shot at the big-time."
100 applicants = 20K that could pay the manager for a season.

I think he will have been put off with Hemmings now back training again and he will get his chance this season I think. Also don't know if the rumours are true re Templeton. Would really like him to sign for us.
