Pique

There was a thread on Pique the other day about letting him go etc and points were made to why such as the Vida and Rio combo and him wanting to leave + the fact his contract was almost up.

Just read something there that came form Piques Autobiography and i completely forgot about the incident and thought it was interesting.

“I misjudged a header and Nicolas Anelka scored for them, and we lost 1-0," Piqué recalls. “I looked back at that day when Ferguson lost some confidence in me. He didn’t say so, but I sort of felt then I would be moving on."

“From that day, everything changed," writes Piqué in his autobiography El Viaje de Ida Y Vuelta (literally, ‘A back and forth trip’). “Sir Alex stopped trusting me. He has always denied that point, but it is one of those feelings one has and I know it is true."

Utter nonesense comment from Pique

Sir Alex is not going to ship you out because of one mistake

Pretty sure I read somewhere that SAF was genuinly sorry to be letting him go but he felt like he deserved regular first team football which he wouldn't be getting at OT at the time

He said something similar about Phil Neville too I recall

A few interesting comments from a few Barca fans aswell saying that Pique isnt as good as people think and if they wernt so good he would still be making mistakes etc. He is still a fantastic player and i read the other day he was basically being Barca's playmaker the other night.

Evans has made so many mistakes this season, even a few last night, yet Fergie keeps his confidence and belief in him, this is shown by him always playing!

So whatever Pique has to say about Fergie losing faith after one mistake I know it's not true

If the manager lost confidence in players after just one mistake, we would have one a hell of a squad because there are a fair few players in our squad that wouldn't be Manchester United players if that was the case.

I highly doubt that this comment from Pique is true.

If he did, Evans would have been well gone.

Forlan believed his time at United was over when he slipped because he was wearing the wrong boots, maybe 1 mistake is more decisive than we think

Thunderkiss_65.

Always thought Forllan did not get a fair crack of the whip from SAF.

I used to think that at the time as I did like Forlan, but looking back Ruud was just such an incredible goal getter you had to play to his strengths.

Very true.

Pique was never suited to the Prem. Despite his size, he was enevr comfortable with physicl confrontations, he was relatively poor with balls in the air, with 'pinball' football in the 18 yard box.

Even now, if he moved to the Prem, he wont be the player he is at Barca. la liga suits him down to a tee and playing for Barca, where their philosophy is defend from the front, attack from the back, is like a match made in heaven

We have Jones now anyway who potentially could be just as useful as Pique going forward but defensively, he has that english no nonesnse mentality. Not forgetting Smallign who has been very impresive too.

As for Evans, lets not go there. Maybe he can be a Oshea for us in the future
