CLUE 3 :
Bert Sugar of Ring Magazine, the eminent boxing historian, named him as the second best Welterweight ever, second only to the great Sugar Ray Robinson! He also nominated him as the 22nd best pound for pound fighter ever!

CLUE 4:
He was twice undisputed World Welterweight champion in the mid 1930s.

CLUE 5:
He had various nicknames during his career. At that time there were many good Jewish-American welterweights and he put a stop to many of their careers. This led to him being christened the "Jew Killer", a name which he quite rightly detested and did his best to discourage! Happily, his orginal and most popular nickname of "Babyface", due to his youthful, boyish looks was the one he was most commonly known by.

CLUE 6:
He had explosive punching power in both fists and started off as definitely more of a puncher. Interestingly though, a lot of his KO punches were delivered from a defensive or counter punching position, making his style rather unique. It was said he was never more dangerous than when he appeared to be cornered. As well as powerful fists, he had extremely fast hands. However, like many big punchers, he started having trouble with his hands. After breaking his right hand about 5 times as well as doing his left several times also, he modified his style into more of a boxer puncher one.

CLUE 7:
He was born an Irishman in Hillsborough, Co.Down, but emigrated to Canada with his family at a young age. In my opinion he was the best Irish born (as opposed to Irish-American,etc.) fighter of all time!

CLUE 8:
His first name was, "Jimmy". Come on! Whats keeping ye? Is this a boxing board or what?
