Were to announce tomorrow that he had been keeping an enormous secret from the world, and couldn't bare the shame of living a lie anymore. Then to reveal that he was actually a woman, do you think that FIFA would allow Leo to keep playing in the men's game, or who Messi then have to join a woman's team?
Obviously Messi isn't a woman. I am in no way trying to disrespect Leo Messi at all with this post, nor imply he is female. I use him as the example because he is currently the best footballer in the world.
Also, if FIFA were to try and make him play in the woman's league, would we as fans stand up against this decision and demand that women be allowed to play in the men's league as the equals of men?
Thoughts?
To expand on this a little bit for those who fail to see the true question, would Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes or St Johnson's youth team player David Heagney receive the same support / understanding / (verdict?) as Leonel Messi? Or would Messi's case be unique and different purely because the player in question is Leonel Messi?
If Leonel Messi...

I thought you were going to suggest he was going to come of of the closet as being homosexual but what you said was just weird...
In his case I think almost any exception would be made for pretty much anything he had done/did do/was/is or whatever. He's the hottest property in football right now and no-one (except Real Madrid possibly) would want him taken away from the game.

There was a report on the One Show a few weeks ago about a girl who played in a mixed team in Scotland. She was the captain and best player but when they one some tournament they qualified for another that was being played in England. Because the English and Scottish FAs have different rules concerning mixed teams she wasn't allowed to play in the tourament. Seems very harsh. And if you watched the report you know she was getting stuck in as hard as any of the lads.
The English FA did however invite her to the tournament to take part in the coin toss. What a bunch of tossers.
