Nigel Pearson will be named Leicester manager, current best odds EVENS with @VictorChandler @OfficialFOXES #LCFC

Still skeptical about whether he will come though. Can't see Hull City giving us permission or him desperately requesting to speak to us. And we've seen MON, Clark and Keane all be odds on before and nothing has come of it - hope this is different though.

Don't want Pearson back.

If he is the best we can do then it is a poor do. He has limited tactical ability, certainly very little by way of attracting quality players and would be one of the first managers to be sacked if we were playing in the Premiership.

He doesn't know this division that well and Hull City aren't exactly setting the world alight, no more than we are! Has to be someone with more pedigree for my money. Still holding out for MON!

This is one of the most strange sagas that I can remember. First MON is favourite, then Clark is odds on, then Keane is odds on and now Pearson is odds on.

The only thing I know for sure is that, for once, the bookies haven't got a cooking flew!

All the bookies are interested in is making a profit. They adjust the odds according to where the money is going. So the series of names taking it in turn to be odds-on favourites suggests that the punters keep changing their minds, not that the bookies are clueless.

I still suspect that a relatively small amount of money has been bet on this contest, and this adds to the volatility of the market – under such conditions, the odd hundred wagered can drastically affect prices. (I know that some of our fans think the gambling world is fascinated by our managerial vacancy, but the fact that no one has bothered to create a market on Betfair suggests to me that this is not the case).

I find it hard to argue against Pearson's credentials. He managed to get us out of League 1 at the first time of asking, something our illustrious neighbours up the M1 took 3 years to accomplish, he than took us to the play offs and with a bit of good fortune may have taken us up. He's had 1 and a bit years of progress at Hull. Whilst MON is the stand out candidate, of the rest Pearson would do a good job and in Steve Walsh has one of the best scouts in England. He may not have the most charasmatic personality, but he gets players playing for him, he is well respected by staff at Leicester and with the money he would now have avaible could take this squad forward.

If this is true it is a very odd decision. Didn't the current regime push Pearson out? He had done well and we should have kept him. And Sven should not have been sacked either.
If Pearson comes back I just hope he is comfortable with the situation. Not many managers would be. Having said that, whoever comes in should succeed. We have a very talented squad - one of the best I can remember. Even the caretakers are doing well and I can't remember that happening before. Pearson compares well with all the other names mentioned. The one thing I should like to see is the same manager in place for at least five years. I also feel that one good candidate largerly overlooked is David Jones. His track record is impressive and with our squad I believe he would do well.

I find it very difficult to believe Pearson would want to come back, given how he was treated by us - and frankly, I wouldn't want him back.

He did a very good job for us, no mistake. There was nothing inevitable about our immediate bounce-back from Div One. But the club now has to go forward, with new thinking and new energy, and it has the ambition and the finance to do so. Not go back looking for success where it was once enjoyed.

Neither would Pearson, surely, be much of a poster boy for the City-in-Asia vision which our owners clearly wish to pursue. I couldn't care less about that, myself, but it's a factor in their thinking, and a tight-lipped unsmiling old misery like Pearson isn't going to flog any shirts.

Davies or (better) Jones are the only ones I would contemplate. Not Pearson, not Keane, not Keegan, not McLaren, and not for heaven's sake Dowie.
