NOT VERY GOOD !!!

Poor game and performance today i thought. The lack of ideas and simple football when your up against a side who have a player sent off at the begining of the second half hits home what a lack of quality we have in the side.Yes i know you are all going to say we got 3 points didnt we but chaps a team with a decent striker today would have made us look silly.Pesc you have a lot of thinking to do and a lot of work to do on the training ground or i can see us slipping down the table.

Emnez agree when MOTM is your Goalkeeper and your playing only 10 men for the whole of the second half thats not poor thats alot worse words can not describe it.
The two fullbacks Webster and Corbet are not good enough no vision just hoof the ball up front . Midfield do we have one both Bolder and Macca should not be in the midfield together play to deep and to slow going forward.
The two wide players why have them when all we do is hump the ball forward and hope Zola can head something for Kee to get.
I for one think that we are in a false position and most people think we are a good side , a half decent side with a good finisher would have killed us today.
Last moan can Pesch not see what we saw today and what the hell do they do in training after todays performance not much.

Good summaries again.

My own view is that we had some very strange decision making going on today.

As already posted, too many long balls - what is the point of having wide men if all they see is the ball flying over their heads?

Who was running the back line today? Seemed to be a lot of arguing going on between Rhino, Stanno and Aaron. All at sea in the first half - if they had a half decent finisher we would have been buried by half time.

The ref? Where do they find them. Two blatent free kicks on the edge of the box and a handball penalty waved away but then a sending off that seemed extremely harsh. Once again, total lack of consistency when you see a yellow card for an innocuous challenge followed by an identical incident waved away.

The subs? Can only assume Jacques was left out there to get his fitness levels back up as his contribution was minimal. Cleveland looked gutted to be removed - at least he was looking interested and trying to get involved. Nice to see Greg, but if I could see Billy Kee with his hands on his hips, blowing for breath (and with all the running he does, I'm not complaining) AND on a yellow, it would have made more sense to give him a break.

And what was Jimmy thinking, one on one with the keeper. Never looked like he was going to put it away did he?

Thankfully the biggest gaffe went to their lad who played a perfect pass to put Magahoma in and fortunately his parried shot dropped nicely for a man who just can't stop scoring.

And finally..........I know it's traditional to file out to 'What have you done today to make you feel proud' after a win but another poor decision after the performance - the DJ should have picked Kylie - Lucky, lucky, lucky

Hi Emnez,
Sadly i didnt make it as stuck on site up north.
You know my feelings as to whats wrong.
Magrath & Bolder in midfield too much alike.
Never going to break teams down.
Defend the mifield too far up the pitch so the game passes them by.
Also play far to close to each other.
Play one of them just in front of the back four then give someone like Dyer a chance.
A attacking midfielder is what we are missing.
Maybe the Argentine guy could be the answer.
Agree Webster and Corbett just hoof it merchants.
Were still not doing too badly and at least Big Dave isnt playing regular.

Yes, a disappointing performance overall, but we must be a semi-decent side if we can play badly and still win.

I actually thought Maghoma was one of the better players, and he did have the shot which led to the winning goal. No surprise for me when Taylor went off, I can't remember anything he did. Dyer seems very injury prone which I guess is why he wasn't even sub. I wonder if Gurrieri is eligible to play yet?! Hopefully the extra attacking midfielder we need.

I am in the '3 points and I don't care' club. We're in the league, we are 8th, outside of the play offs on goal difference, 29 points on the board and getting points all over the place that we didn't deserve.

Are we a bad side? Compared to last year? Calvin, Billy and Justin as strikers scoring goals for fun. TJ and Rhino are great centre halves. Our 'keeper is brilliant.

I think the crux of the matter which has astutely been pointed out by Pez (for a while now), Emnez and TC Brewer is just about the midfield. I totally agree now with the argument.

Do you remember how Simmo and Macca (in the Conference) used to make unchecked late runs in to the penalty area? Or to a lesser extent Russ Penn in his 2 years with us? That's what we need now. An attacking midfielder option or, as a second best option, encourage Macca and Bolder to look for that incisive pass.

This time last year we were playing 4-5-1 with the likes of Mr 3 Grand, Barn Door Walker, Headless Chicken Young all donning the yellow shirt. Yes my friends, apart from a bit of tinkering, everything is very rosy in my opinion.

Good post Otep, totally echo your thoughts!

Too many 'fans' are looking towards the negatives; surely we should be thankful of what we have and what the team is achieving.....too many half empty merchants me thinks.

Even the 'best' teams have bad days at the office, Barcelona, Real Madrid & Man City!

Would you rather we had a different manager every month and play attractive open football in the BSP or continue to compete with a stable manager (who is learning every week) and play more combat style in L2? I know my answer.

Once again very interesting opinions from you all, many thanks for that and i do respect them.I just wish the jibes at other fans opinions could be resisted. The Burton Albion 606 site is the best with very good football people commenting on various topics and it makes good reading.Lets keep it that way and enjoy it.I can assure you Pez,Tc brewer and myself are not half empty merchants we just have an opinion and say it how we see it.

Not a jibe Emnez just stating events as I see it. Sure in our own way we are after the same goal, a better seasons end for the brewers. Looking forward to Oldham away on Saturday, see all you chaps there...! Come on you brewers!!!

I said back in August that I could see the midfield two being our weak link this season with their lack of imagination and inability to create openings or get forward and score. Despite the results so far I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

But then last season we'd have been losing games we are now somehow winning, so something must be going right.
