Problems at the back?

After conceding 6 goals in 2 games, it's quite clear we have a few issues at the back. Simply put, playing Kilbane in the centre, Anderson/Buxton on the right, just isn't working (we won't worry about the midfield just yet... ). It does seem wrong to play a full-back in the centre, and a centreback at full-back.

I understanding (ish?) as to why we wouldn't get in loans - it's probably wise to use the players within the squad. But for the life of me, I just can't seem to work out why we aren't putting out our best defensive line?

We do have another defender on our books who is equally as good (on his day) as Shackell in Dean Leacock, but he can't even make the bench! If he has fallen out with Clough, and we're trying to sell him, at least make use of him and his wages whilst he's still here, when we need a defender the most, and ultimately put him in the shop window to command a higher transfer fee! Even after his shambolic performance away at Forest last season, I'd still see him at full back rather than Buxton (what's happened to Croft at RB aswell?)

Unless Leacock's injured, we may aswell play him rather than let him waste in the reserves - and he'd probably do a better job than Kilbane and Buxton too!

20 year old Tom Naylor from Mansfield will sort out our defensive woes.

Mr Clough does shout quite loud when he doesn't like a player or doesn't think they're good enough, without actually saying it. Apart from Cwyka.
That is a few occasions I can think of off the top of my head, where Clough has gone out and bought another player, when we have others already on the payroll who could play in the position.

Leacock, the answer to our problems He wasn't very good against Forest at home either.

If he cared about getting his place back in the team, showing the manager that he's wrong, then why didn't he take up an opportunity to go on loan to Hull last season?

Injuries affect continuity, losing Brayford hasn't helped and the back four consists of two first choices: Shackell & Roberts, though O'Brien has done well.

I do agree with AJ though. Now Maguire can't get in the team/squad, when a similar player in Cywka was here already.

our main problem at the back is the goalkeeper , his mistake again sat with mix up with shackell , he has cost us at least twelve goals this season , management were soon on bywaters back , this chap gets away with it .
he costs us a least a goal a game.
he does not command his box , hesitates to come out , but because his kicking is better than bywater he is seen as a good keeper.
I honestly think he is on par with graham moseley as one of our worst in a derby shirt.

Rob

Fielding's certain guilty of glaring errors (Burnley, last goal at Leicester), but I think injuries have affected the defence & the team as a whole.

From the highlights, we failed to block McCann in time - the goal look horribly reminiscent of Crawley - and the wrong subs were brought on, someone like Kilbane perhaps.
