Here's what VDV had to say:
“We didn’t play like somebody who wants to win the title," said van der Vaart after his side's 3-1 win over Fulham. “When we play well, like last week [against QPR] then we have a fantastic team.
“Today we fought until the end but Fulham were the better team, that’s football and if we can keep on winning these kind of games then we have a good chance to be in the top four.
“Our ambition is to finish in the top four, we’ve always had that.
“We had so much luck but I have to say I was quite happy with this game because last season we lost this kind of game and now we win them.
“It’s a pity for Fulham, especially for the Dutch coach Martin Jol but I think we were very lucky today."
Well, ain't that the truth!!

We should not lose sight of the fact that it was a London derby and anything can happen in those. QPR v Chelsea as an example.

Yes, it was a london derby.
But .... Fulham should not have been a problem for us.
As VDV says, we didn't play well .... but still won!
To make top four we have to beat Arsenal and Pool.

It's BECUASE we lost games like Fulham, Wigan, Wolves and West Ham, that we missed out on top 4 last season. Beating Liverpool and Arsenal at WHL is becoming a good habit, but they count for nothing if we trip up against teams in the bottom six.
