Can anyone confirm if away goals scored in the Euro Play offs count double like they do in Champions league or Europa League knockout ties?
I think they don't but i am not 100% sure.
If they don't then a 0-0 away draw to Estonia on Friday night is as good to us as a 1-1 or 2-2 etc....
Trapatonni seems to be under the impression that away goals do count double as he was quoted in an interview yesterday as saying that it is vital that we score an away goal!!

Remember Paris last time? If Duff or Keane had taken one of those chances then the French would have had to score twice (two handballs) as we would have gone through on a 2-2 aggregate scoreline (two away goals versus one).........but like my Murphys, I'm not bitter.

Yeah, away goals has always been there for WC and Euro playoffs...
Remember how we got shafted by Turkey in the playoff for the Euros in 2000?
I'd be very happy if we took a 1-1 draw back to Lansdowne.
Fair point too Dublondain Everybody (Roy Keane included) seemed to blame Paul McShane solely for that defeat in Paris but the game would have been all over in 90minutes if Keane or Duff had've taken those easy one on one opportunities.
Lets pray for some better finishing this time against Estonia

And let's not forget John O'Shea skying over from about 6 metres in both legs.

So if we score 3 on Friday night we actually score 6?!!
Away goals don't and never will count double!!! Sorry, but that saying really bugs me!
The 'away goals' rule is in use, sure it would've been used in the qualifying phase if 'head to head' records had've been required to decide group places for teams finishing level on points. I hope it's cleared up for the players before Friday though because I just watched John Walters say he isn't sure if it's in use or not!

I hear you CP, I always refer to it as the away goals rule as you can see above.

5esus Pogued its a bit of worry if the players aren't even aware of it!!!!
Reminds me of the time Staunton was appointed manager of Darlington who were then rooted to the bottom of Divison 2. Staunton said in his first press conference " Well we can't drop down anyway lower than where we are"!!!!!
Sorry Stan did you never hear of the Blue Square Premier Division!!!!!

Robbie dude,
I have to get this off my chest, your username bugs the hell out of me. Reminds me of the Dublin footballers in 1992 before the final against Donegal, parading down O'Connell St. That's going to look extremely stupid if we don't beat Estonia. You're usually sensible enough dude, but I don't like this 1988 etc thing.

Thats why i put a question mark after 2012 Frankos.
Like yourself i'm a realist and have been a long suffering fan for years.
I wouldn't dare put money on the outcome of our play-offs. I have too many memories of shocking midfield performances from this campaign to actually think we're a dead cert to qualify!!
Not to mention our habit of leaving in stupid goals just when we think we are going to coast to victory (last home match against Armenia for example!!)
