Did anybody go along to the Hirsty's Bar do last week? I managed to ignore the fact that it was organized by Wednesdayite and went along. I've been to a couple before but this was proably the best one I've attended. It was billed as a striker night. Hirsty is always good value, even though I'd heard some of his anecdotes before (particularly the pinning-Carbone-against-a-wall one which he seems to get asked about every time) and he really is the one who makes these events tick. Rodger Wylde I've also heard speak before but he'san amiable, laid back sort and tells a decent tale. Jack Whitham was also good. I spoke to him very briefly at that book signing thing a few weeks ago. He told me he was scouting for Wolves these days and it was nice to hear him expand on that the other night. Gary Madine, bless 'im, just looked a bit lost. He didn't really seem to know what was going on half the time - I think Hirsty's Barnsley accent might have confused him!- but he answered well enough when asked a question.
All in all a decent night. If you've never been to one I'd highly recommend it.

In fairness to Madine, he apparently came hot foot from his disciplinary hearing so he probably wasn't in the mood for a Q&A and a game of bast*rd bingo!

Yeah, that'd be better!
But sadly it's just another name for that stand-up/sit down bingo.

WTF is stand-up / sit down bingo? And surely there must be safer people to play it with than Wylde, Hirst and Madine!!

You buy a bingo card then stand up when the game starts. If one of your numbers gets called out you sit down. Last man standing wins the prize. And if you think that sounds boring, let me tell you, it isn't half as exciting as I've made it sound!

Chuff me, it's a good job there are no pig fans about. Threads like this used to be ripped apart in no time at all - and for good reason!!
