ENGLAND TEAM FOR EUROS

Theres a lot of talk about England going down the 'Germany route' by removing the dead wood and playing young players that have something to prove and the thing is what is the worst they can do. i can pretty much guarantee that they'll get out of the group stage and get to the quarter finals which is pretty much as far as the older generation can get to. so what do you think about giving these players a confidence boost and the thing is that this 'golden generation' of english football has failed so miserably so to continue using them when even a blind man can see that their peaks are long gone is an insult to the younger player that deserve a chance. this is the team that I would put out and I would still put scott parker in there as he has never really been given a chance with england and is in the form of his life so he really deserves it

hart
walker/richards smalling jones baines/gibbs

parker
cleverly wilshire

jhonson sturringe/young

welbeck

rooney has to go to the world cup and has to be involved in some capacity as he is englands best player by a country mile and he should be involved in the later stages

what do you lot think

nope

not once did i state that you tool

best in their positions i.e Cole better left back than Rooney - i think people would agree
Hart better Keeper than Rooney - again a valid point
and lastly Parker better anchor man than Rooney? ok Rooney may do a good job there!

and to even it out - rooney is a better striker than hart, parker and cole

that was my point

and just to really get you to understand, yes Messi is amazing and excels greatly in his forward position at Barca and for Argentina

but he and other professional with anounce of humility will say they arent the best overall player in there team as he'd be a $hite centre back, keeper, right back and holding midfileder

why in the name of rooneys left testi are you elling me that ashley cole is a better left back than rooney as a response to me saying rooney is englands best player. i think when i say that it goes without saying that what i mean is that in terms of importance to th team and ability he is the best. only a donkey would see the obvious fact that rooney is not as good a left back as ashley cole as even worth mentioning

Well in terms of talent people are correct to say Rooney is the best England player by far, even if he doesn't always use it all the time. He has alot more in his locker than the likes of Cole and Hart, eventhough they are talented themselves in those positions.

i despair

the crux of it is that in my opinion Rooney is not Englands best player by a country mile

other players are just as vital as him and him not being there doesnt mean England will fail

i did agree with the team you proposed though, especially leading up to the tourament to try it out

lol were just going to have to agree to disagree. anyway back to the team what do you think the chances of cappello fielding a similar team are

i'd like to think he'd have the balls to overhaul the squad but when it comes to the crunch, this essentially will be the Golden Generations last hurrah

Welbeck and Sturridge are well in with a shout - more so than Carroll and Bent in my opinion with Rooney missing the groups

but the likes of Barry, Downing, Milner with Gerrard and Lampard will make the squad unless injuries stop them

its the defence that needs looking at. your defence lookes good but Cole will be left back and it'll be either Jones or Smalling, not both, which is a shame

your probably right about lampard and co but i wouldnt be so sure abt jones and smalling because i have a feeling terry will be proven guilty of making a racist slur which will probably leave him in international wilderness and will put pressure on capello to play both jones and smalling and to be honest i dont think the cole of today is much better than baines and seeing as baines most probably will be 1st choice at the world cup it makes sense for him to be left back

yeah dont get me wrong i like Baines a lot and i hope he gets a chance. Gibbs has impressed me too when he's played

I only believe Fabio will play the youngsters who have been consistent for the whole season - i just hope a lot of them start to play out of there skin to dislodge the old guard

you heard Capellos interview on SSN? he's already saying hes dreading facing Spain - not the beacon of positivity is he!?

lool yeh i heard it. i remember when capello became the manager i was full of hope simply because his club record is absolutely brilliant and now its just a case of counting down the days until hes gone
