Sven-Goran Eriksson has made a £2million bid to nab Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.
With Everton’s Yakubu stalling over a permanent move to the Foxes, Eriksson has moved swiftly for Maynard, 24.
The Bristolians want £5m for their prizedpossession, who has been out for nine months with a serious knee injury.
Leicester’s Thai owners are ready to fork out £2m, plus a package linked to goals that could push the deal closer to £4m.
Eriksson is also snapping up one-cap England star David Nugent on a free after he left Portsmouth, four years after they paid £6m for him.

While I think of it, what kind of deal based on goals offers an extra £2M???

The Mirror have reported it too, though they seem to be the only ones touting this bizarre goal-related transfer fee. Not so sure I can see Bristol agreeing to something like that.

Unfortunately ,football is littered with careers wrecked by serious knee injuries- easier to recover fully from broken leg than this type of injury with so many medical factors.
Maynard will not command the sort of fee likely prior to his injury, after all he missed most of last season and significantly didn't play in last few games of the season after his comeback.
If Leicester do pursue interest you can be sure that fees may also be linked to appearences.
Significantly the clubs clustering around at the end of the previous season -including some Premier taems-are conspicuous by their absence - despite Bristol trying to drum up interest.

the reason Maynard didnt play the last 3 games of the season was he was suspended due to being sent off, otherwise he would played

Well I think I'm right in saying that Maynard scored 6 in 13 on return so it doesn't look to have affected him too much. Definately if he's on the level that he was 2 seasons ago I'd take him in a heartbeat. A type of striker that suits our style - never stops running and trying to get in behind defences.
