Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 away to Estonia in the first leg of the Euro Play offs!!! Yes 4-0!!! Who would have predicted that. Not me i was convinced we'd only come away with a draw.

Fair play to the Ireland side tonight. They've done the country proud. After weathering a period of Estonian pressure at the start of the second half they composed themselves and started playing the ball along the floor at long last.

And no need to remind me of what followed 3 more goals to take us into the second leg with a massive 4 goal advantage.

I'm not going to tempt fate and say we have qualified yet. Theres still another 90 minutes of Football to be played in Dublin next Tuesday but you would be a foolish man to put money on Estonia to overcome a 4 goal defecit.

It seems to many ROI fans all that matters is playing exciting football during group games as oppossed to the functional and effective game that has led to results and thus success (barring a nightmare on tuesday night).

Just look at Greece in euro2004.

You have a point Mr Wipers. I think we're finding it hard to adjust to the Italian safety first approach adopted by Trapatonni.
That said yes we have definitely made progress under the man. He is an enigma.

Well done Republic, all the best in the finals.

Hopefully you draw France for a bit of pay back as well

Congratulations to the Republic of Ireland!

To be fair, even the mighty Faroe Islands beat Estonia 2-0 in qualification.

Would be a major embarrassment if Eire didn't beat the Sinisärgid

To be fair, Estonia also won away to Serbia
And they did finish second in their group.

And "Eire" did beat the "Sinisargid" 4-0 if i recall correctly

I am sure you know it is the Gaelic Irish name for the Republic of Ireland, named after the Gaelic goddess Eriu.
