Without him, top English teams have a HUGE chance of beating Barcelona.
Without him, its just pass pass pass pass pass blaa blaa blaa..
Defending deep like we have done today and having better Midfielders who can initiate proper counters will hurt them.
When u have someone like Messi who can go on solo runs and take out 4 - 5 players at once thereby creating space for others, u will have a chance against teams that Defend really deep.
I think people still underestimate the value of Messi to that team.
Remember how Messi slaughtered the entire Spainish defence when Argentina played them??

the irony is that most argue that messi without xavi and iniesta wouldn't be as good as rooney. haha

Its just a way to discredit Messi.
If anything he makes those players better.
when u have players like Messi getting on the end of your passes even any decent passer of the ball will look world class..
Not discrediting Xavi & iniesta though. Still will pick Cesc over them

Like i said, if you defend really deep ENGLAND style you will surely keep them out.
Even spain couldn't beat Holland in 90mins

Holland didn't beat Spain in 90 mins either. You keep them out for 90 mins and then loose in extra time.

i think its about the chemistry they have with eachother, they've all been playing together their whole career and will messi almost guaranteed to finish off almost every chance he gets it makes everything so easy for xavi and iniesta

Stokie, you say no discredit to Xavi and Iniesta, but that's just what you're doing.
The point is - and Cesc said this himself recently - they all make each other better, yet take Messi out and Xavi and Iniesta are still good enough to lead their country to European and World titles.
Not great Hippo? You'd be talking about them till kingdom come if they were English. And if Messi was English? I don't think England (nor Spain for that matter) will ever produce a talent like that.

That's probably the funniest thing I've heard since joining this place! Trust an Arsenal fan for such an impartial opinion
Xavi and Iniesta will dck all over any English team, with or without Messi. Close them down all you like, they'll still find a pass out of nowhere.
I wouldn't read too much into the result of a meaningless international friendly.
