JP trophy Semi Final

Hi chaps, stonkingly good win for you lot yesterday. At 0-1 down I thought you would get turned over as Huddersfield can't do much wrong in the league.

Anyway, to the point. JP trophy area semi final - do you fancy it at Roots Hall? I think it will be a really good game providing we turn up in the mood. Great shame it's not the area final, but there you go.

I'll probably be heading to the game as I haven't been to an away game since Crawley, Hopefully you lot played like you did at the County Ground in that case were through but I know that won't happened. Its an interesting tie with a good chance of getting on TV. Quick question, How good has Timlin been for you? would him missing out for you effect you at all?

Hopefully we will carry on as we have been since Swindon away. For some strange reason (we couldn't have got much worse) the team started playing as a team after that game and have continued in that vein ever since.

We are not world beaters, but we are very hard to beat now and goals are coming from all quarters, defence, midfield and the forwards with confidence following through the team.

Timlin has been probably our best and most consistant player with the exception of Hall who has been on fire. So thanks for the loan and it would not surprise me if Luggy comes in with a few quid for him in January.

Roots,There has been talk of us selling Timmo to you but apparently our chairman said he won't be going on the cheap. Don't know about Southends finances but as you have said he has been playing a big part in your recent success so how much do you think he is worth ?

More than we have in the bank at the moment Notts!! As you know we have been missing the proverbial pot to urinate in for some time but..............come January it is rumoured that West Ham will come calling for Ferdinand and figures of up to £500k are not unrealistic. So I think it will take six figures to get Timlin. How big those six figures are is up for debate. My guess would be £100k. Probably a bit over priced but it depends on other deals I guess.

According to the link below Timlin is worth £250k

Which goes to show that my valuation is rubbish!!

Not sure about 250k, dont think i would want us to pay that much for him so I agree that the figure would probably be closer to your valuation. If you thought he was really going to make the difference to your promotion chances then I guess the transfer market fee
would be well worth it. Don't think we will see him back at Swindon so it will be interesting to see what sort of deal if any is done between the two clubs or even an outside club.

Will Timlin play against us?
If he does, what will be the instructions to our players? Lose our chance in the paint pot, or risk injuring one of our biggest assets.
I find it hard to believe that the bloke can be a star at one club, but only an adequate player at another.
That probably shows what turmoil our side was in.
But, I think that we have rectified that now, I can't see him coming back & fitting in. If Southend can't afford our price, then someone else might.
Sell him to the highest bidder!

He has played in all the other JP games but I guess it will be up to Swindon whether he is included for the semi. If the JP is that unimportant to you Red, then it won't matter, will it?

Sometimes players just don't do it for some clubs and then bloom for others. Gary Hooper being a prime example. Tilson found him in non league, polished him up and then he just did not grow. Subsequently at Celtic look at him now. Football is a funny game.

Roots,
I'm sure that our guys will want to win any game that they play. DiC wouldn't expect anything else.
But, would one of them clatter one of our club's assets, & maybe lose us a load of money, just to try to win the paint pot?
We aren't a rich club. If we have an asset in a player valued in 3 figures, then we have to protect that.

That's why it matters to me.

Fair point Red. I don't think any of us want a player injured, valuable or not when promotion is the prime aim of both clubs.
