Then call O'Gara!
Just been reading a article which made an unlikely but rather obvious comparison.
Munster V The Saints and the Munster FH O'Gara a man who never shirks his responsibility stepped up to the mark and done his job. As he has done for both Munster and Ireland countless times.
Here is the comparison and a quote. Im sorry this will not go down well with some but i am not trying to raise any arguments just thought it was a nice little bit of food for thought.
QUOTE:
"Wales may try to lay much of the blame for their World Cup exit at Alain Rolland, but far more telling was the reluctance of Stephen Jones, with over 100 caps to his name, to assume the responsibility with a World Cup final for his country on the line."
Again im sorry i was supporting Wales in that game BUT that is possibly the single most accurate analysis of the Wales WC exit that i have every read. Its quite simple. Jones bottled it. And up until that point i was a huge fan.
Need a man to stand up and be counted?

That was 10x worse than Jones not taking on the drop goal.

It wasn't just Jones though, was it? Hook and Halfpenny also kicked poorly. Should that mean Jenkins (as kicking coach) has to shoulder a substantial amount of criticism?

MonDieu
I see your point but its not really the same. What were talking about is the balls to take on the responsibility when your team needs you and take the drop goal opportunity. The missed penalties aside Wales should have won the game and they could have if Jones had not hid in the long grass when he had an opportunity from 30 meters out and right in-front. Thats bread and butter to a fly half with over 100 test caps for his country.
I guess his confidence took a knock and he didnt feel sure enough to take the shot. Hes a really decent bloke to be fair so im not knocking him but he made the wrong choice here.
1/2 penny can't take any blame. thats was over 50m meters for that attempt. thats a hail mary kick for any player.
