Dos-
'faux outrage and mock offense'
If this is your take on things then the whole of latin Europe has over reacted. You are unfair to assimilate anti catholic chanting to pro 'ra chanting.

Dos,
So, how many in a crowd of 45k are chanting the ra?
The anonymous user is spot on. The majority of tims on here welcome the investigation as a chance to weed out what are a small percentage of fans.
Some berrz cannae handle this, because this is not how they have reacted to the numerous slap-downs from UEFA over the years.

Dos,
Why did that song only become offensive to Rangers fans after the Irish Government, anti-racism groups, and Celtic F.C. complained about the Famine Song?
Beforehand, it wasn't even an issue. A huuun is not religious sectarian. It is aligned with a person from a so-called barbaric tribe, uncivilized, and intent on wreaking havoc wherever he goes. Modern historians are moving away from such crude stereotypes, thankfully, as there was far more to the huuuuns' culture than Roman writers ascribed in their bigotry.
Some things never change, eh?

Ask anyone with a brain outside the west of Scotland what a huuuuun is.
Will they instantly tell you that it is a direct sectarian description of Rangers fans?
Get real. Or, in other parlance, deary, deary me.
