Evra/Suarez debate

Suarez has been charged, however denies saying anything rascist, but doesn't deny saying something, Evra stands by his claim and the FA, well who knows what they're thinking.

As relatively neutral fans what are your guys take on this?

I ask because it's hard to gauge what other fans think on the matter, because on all the other threads, its dominated by Manchester United/Liverpool fans.

Thats not my point

My point is just because that is the way they do things doesnt necessarily mean thats the way we should do things.

So it is the law in this country to be intolerant of other cultures?

This was done to death last night, my take on it is:
If a Supporter made racist remarks or chants, he would be excluded by that club for a long time, possibly life - if Suarez is found guilty, would the FA have the balls to apply a general rule? or would they be blatant enough to make it one rule for multi-millionaire football players and another for the paying public?

IMHO, What i think would happen is they will be too worried about finding him guilty, as they will with Terry - Liverpool and Chelsea are wealthy clubs and probably have very expensive lawyers - however, when / if a championship / league 1 / 2 player does the same thing, he will be made an example of and hung out to dry

I'm not aware of that being the law in any country so would you mind supplying me a list of those it is along with some evidence it is the law.

Whilst you're at it maybe you could find some evidence other than from Suarez that he used the word 'negrito'.... or wait, are we just to accept his word for that?

In your own time with that list then

Ignorance is no excuse IMO - Suarez has been playing in Europe for long enough, and as well all know the first words you learn of a foreign language are the swears. Seriously though, are you going to sit every 12-year-old down and explain that they can use some racist words if they don't understand them? It's a nonsense. IF he's guilty they should make an example of him.

Sorry mate - lived in Brazil for 4 years and only really stumbled over this gem after about 2/3 years. Im sorry but i wouldnt think, hmmmmmm which words may be racial abusive i better find out. This in contrast is totally different from say Duhbai etc as these places are known for dodgy practices, the UK i wouldnt have at the top of my list to watch out for name calling and being hung out to dry for it.

As you can tell by the part I began "Seriously though.." the first statement was tongue-in-cheek. Basically I would be surprised if he didn't know what he was saying, but i'll take your word for it

CPofL.Proud to be a part of the 62% MAJORITY of CPO that backed the club. (U9740)

You are either deliberately missing my point to try and antagonise me or you are rather thick.

My point is simply this (for the third time!), and I'll try to break it down in its simplest terms for you. Just because in China or some of the Arab states there is zero tolerance on certain things does not mean that is the right way to go about things.

Go and look up the way women and g4ys are treated in some of those places and if you come back and still think we should be following their example of tolerance you should really be climbing down off your high horse on this issue.

Just because another country is intolerant of what other cultures believe to acceptable and not doesnt mean we should be and nor does it make it correct to be that way.

I really cannot put it any simpler than that. If you still dont get it, there is no hope for you.
