One man and his dog, went to have a protest, one man and his dog called Dave #woof, went to have a protest....

My point exactly.
When we do get taken over, lets hope the new owners dont prove to be unsuitable.
Lets hope they dont have us in a position whereby we repeatedly sell players and cant afford to even make loan signings.
Lets hope they dont, if put in the position to get a new ground in a world famous location, for the cost of a player, let it fall by the wayside.
Lets hope they dont run an administration that is a laughing stock.
Lets hope, over 9-10 years, they spend 1p more than the initial money it cost them to buy the club.
Lets hope they dont split the fanbase.
ETC,ETC.

The ones you wanted out did the same.

Who said the fanbase is split?

Only 200-300 are unhappy

"In 1999 10,000 Everton fans signed a petition against the involvement of 'agent' Johnson in our club. That was before the huge takeoff in internet, mobile comms and social networking that we have today. It was possible then to get that level of support but now its impossible?. I dont think so!."

The tipping point for Johnson was the protest in front of the main stand after the last game of the season, when we'd just escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth. Maybe it'll take us to get to that point for the majority to act the same way with Kenwright, but the worry is that this time lady luck might not be on our side......

"The answer is that they can but they have to have a message that the wider fanbase can relate to and get behind. Right now all they offer is the cry to rid ourselves of this troublesome board and to trust to faith that what comes next will be somehow better!"

& the difference between that & the cries for the head of Johnson are what exactly???

"You seriously expect fans to go for that and get behind it?. Its not apathy that stops people making that decision its basic common sense!"

As above, when football fans call for the head of the Chairman (or the manager for that matter) they have no crystal ball, they just know that the current situation isn't working to their satisfaction & therefore demand change. Fans who protested against Johnson wanted Johnson to go - the end. Who or what was going to follow him wasn't within their control, they just hoped that we could do better than him.

"You are advocating it now though Tobes. The result of a disastrous takeover nearly saw Portsmouth close the doors of Fratton Park for good....end of club....gone. Is stagnation preferable to being wound up?. Damn straight it is. Better a day as a lion than a lifetime as a sheep so Mussolini said.....I've always wondered if he still thought that as he was being hung from the lamppost?. I suspect not."

The numerous disastrous takeovers that we've seen in recent years have always concerned me. However, my personal tipping point was reached this summer. Selling to buy is one thing, selling to repay the bank is quite another. We've reached the point where we are going backwards, tangibly so. "Better the devil you know" doesn't cut it for me anymore, this lot have failed & have no robust plan in place to turn the ship around, I fear we're headed for the abyss, & have therefore changed my stance.

"Who cares how loud or quiet the calls for the boards heads are?. Are the board going to hand their shares over because a few hundred more or less Evertonians are really angry with them?."

Johnson did when the pitch was full of Evertonians calling for his head & he wasn't the first to do so either. Fans protests do have an impact, anyone who read those leaked e-mails has witnessed that as fact at EFC, as it was apparent that the senior management were deeply concerned at how they could counter act the negative publicity & attempt to negate the effects of the protest.

"I think Kenwrights loyalty or otherwise is absolutely irrelevent and I would have expected you to as well Tobes. You do seem to have had an epiphany recently haven't you?. You know as well as I do the asking price is an irrelevence when the seller needs to sell."

I was talking about the loyalty to Kenwright not his own. The asking price is not irrelevant when the owner isn't boxed into a corner, until they reach the point at which they feel that selling for whatever they can get is their only option - they're currently asking a price that is at best aspirational, at worst pure greed.

"Hey everyones entitled to their own opinion. Its either a case of a few hundred knowing a special truth and everyone else is too stupid to realise it, or, several tens of thousands believing that they have few options at present and holding on until something better comes along. On balance I think I know who's right there Tobes."

That's patronising Steve, no-one is claiming to know any "special truth". There's many who either don't know the truth i.e. the facts or have no interest in knowing what it is.....that's was my point & you know that's true. There's others like yourself, who are in full posession of the facts & have come to a different conclusion, that's your perogative, however we both know that there's many more who don't read EFC forums / websites & base their opinion on the RS Echo, Sharpy's phone in's & the like......
