Vermaelen at LB would be about as pointless as the 'Nasri' experiment where he was deployed as a holding midfielder. Would Utd play Vidic as a full back? Or Chelsea use Terry that way? No. Desperation... Lunatics, Asylums - that's why we employ a man like Wenger - because if we listened to half these idiots 'in-the-know' we'd be in League One by now!

I really hope Wenger is strengthening properly this summer and it's not going to be the 6th summer in a row of 'Make Do And Mend'.

Wenger seems to jigg around his current players rather than replace and it has cost us ever since he didn't replace Vieira. I hope he replaces each player who leaves, as well as bringing in extra tallent.

New GK to be first choice with Szenzznznznzey as no.2 and Fabianski as 3rd. (Almunia leaves)

New CB to play with Vermaelen
New LB to replace Clichy
New DM to be first choice and Song is cover
New midfeilder to replace Nasri or Fabregas (I don't believe both will leave, Fabregas seems more likely to go with Kroenke willing to pay Nasri off.
New striker to replace Bendtner

We have Botelho, Tarore and Gibbs fighting for LB position. Is anyone of them good enuf to replace Clichy? I m dieing to see Pedro Botelho because he is Brazilian of course.

I agree. We need TV as one of the players in our spine. He also brings the ball forward from defence which you need when you play against teams that just park the bus. And we will have lots of those in home games.

It's nothing like your examples, and not nearly as crazy. Vermaelan plays left back regularly for Belgium and also played there often at Ajax. That is not equivalent with Terry or Vidic's experience. They don't play fullback.
I don't really have a strong opinion on this - if Wenger were to decide on TV as 1st choice lb next season, I would find it interesting and assume that a lot of training and thought had gone into the decision. If we buy a lb to replace Clichy, I'd also understand that as it would be the more conventional thing to do. But I don't think playing him at lb is crazy talk.
